"You miss her, don't you?" said Paul as him and Crest were waiting for the bus
"Yeah, quite a lot actually. I don't even know how I'm ever gonna forget all this." answered Crest
"Well, I miss her too, but maybe in time, who knows? She might wither away just like a dream."
Crest went silent. Thinking if he'll ever forget the only person that mattered to him. There was a lot going through his head and now this? He just couldn't take it all. He stared at the bus stop sign next to them at the shed and thought of the things that could've been if only he was there that night.
"Hey!" snapped Paul "The bus is here."
The bus stopped in front of them. As the doors open, Crest realized he was blankly staring at the bus driver.
"Oi, where you headin' chaps? Me miles only go as far as Oakwood today. Summer's just around the corner y'know." said the bus driver
"Hey Jerry, we're just going to Riverdale today. We have our first assigngment today." answered Paul
"Ah, off to the land of Miracles and Grants I see?" said Jerry
"Well, C'mon me lads, Uncle Jerry's got ya covered. Off to Riverdale we head." he added
"Crest grab the bags, while I find us a place to sit." said Paul as he steps on the bus
Crest felt awkward. Heck, he didn't have time to just stare at the place so he grabbed the bags and got into the bus. Then it closed its doors.
"What's the matter boy?" asked Jerry
"Nothing. It's just that... it's complicated." Crest answered
"Oi, if ya feelin' down, I know us a place in Riverdale where you can have all yer problems resolved." said Jerry as he hands down a card and winks at him
It was an address to a local pub at Riverdale. Crest smiled a bit.
"Well, ya kids find a seat yet?" asked Jerry
"Hey Crest, let's sit there." said Paul pointing at the two vacant seats on the left of the aisle.
Crest didn't bother to talk and went to place then just placed the bags on the shelf that was on top of them. He sat down and just relaxed as Paul beside him opens a bag of chips and proceeds to eat as the bus starts moving.
"Ahh, our first assignment. Isn't this awesome Crest?"
Crest, wanting to stay silent, just smiled back at Paul.
They were heading to their first assignment as writers for the Daily Cornic to write about the Monestary of St. Argensus which was said to give miracles to those who pleaded from their innocent heart. Crest knew he always wanted this but his mind was too bothered about Cyndia that he didn't know what to feel. He grabbed his bag and got a notebook. Writing random things in the notebook, he tried to erase the thought of Cydia as he drowns that feeling with his fervor for writing.
Then he looked at the notebook he was writing on and cried.
"Dude, what the hell?!" Paul exclaimed as he saw Crest, the man he thought to have a stone for a heart, weep like a baby.
"What did I do? This notebook was supposed to be our adventure journal and I wrote random scribbles on it."
"What adventure journal? We don't have one."
"I wasn't referring to us. I meant me and Cyndia. I promised her that I would write everything we experienced together the day we get our first assignment." wept Crest
"Don't be such a baby man. There are people on this bus and they're all looking at us." said Paul "Look, it's been a long week with Cydia's burial and all." He looked at Crest in the eye and said "This adventure journal or whatever you call it is something you promised to write for her, then write it. She may not be with us anymore, but she's watching over us. Write about what we'll go through together."
Paul looks at Crest and added "For Cyndia." as he raises his fist
"For Cyndia." said Crest as he bumps his fist with Paul.
Crest smiled. At least for once, Paul was right. There was nothing to worry about. If Cyndia wanted this, then he should at least finish it for her.
"Well I don't know about you but I haven't slept all night preparing my gear for this trip." said Paul as he placed a blanket on his face trying to get some shut eye.
Crest felt the same having realized that all this day dreaming got him parched. So he laid easy on his chair and fell asleep.
