chapter one.

I was exhausted. I had been working all day and the last thing I wanted was to close up tonight, but it was either that or be at risk of loosing my job to my srict boss. At an attempt to rub the tiredness away from my eyes, I set my green tea down and walked into the back, which happened toe freeze my ass off. I sighed wishing that I had brought my jacket to work - I mean it's a god damn ice cream parlor, it's bound to be cold, especially in the back. After internally slapping myself, I opened the closet and hook my hand around the broom, my other hand grabbing onto the keys. Once my hand was on the key chain, I put it in my mouth then grabbed onto the bucket full of liquid to clean the floors with. Opening the door with my foot, I walked back to the main part and set the materails down and put the keys on the counter that I would be needing in a near hour. I let out an over exagerated groan when the broom slid down the couter land landed on the tile with a loud clacking sound. I bent down to pick it up, but my back ached. I rested my hand on it and sqeezed my eyes shut then slowly picked the broom up, dipping it into the liquid.

The only pleasurable thing about this was the fact that song I actually know were being played in the background due to the fact that my iPod was plugged into the parlors stereo, it was all day actually, playing all the songs on my 'Relax' playlist. I sighed when the song Come Back To Me by Trading Yesterday began playing throughout the parlor. It was on medium volume, making it easier to hear. I hummed along to the melody and continued cleaning the "dirty" floors. Yes, they were sort of sticky but not everywhere, mainly just behind counters. Things were going good until the loud blaring noise of sirens screamed through the small town. My stomach turned and I stopped cleaning for a moment, I just listened to the ear piercing noise, listening closely as it grew louder and louder. I watched a red pick-up truck zoom through the road, soon to be followed by a black and white veicale. I felt my palms begen to sweat when the sirens grew smaller and smaller. Sighing, I wiped them off on my apron and began sweeping but my thoughts continued to distract me.

Is he safe now?

Where is he?

Does he miss me?

Or is he even more dangerous than before?

In between my thoughts, I didn't even realize the song has changed the purple, blue and pink lights of the movie threatre next to the parlor had been shut off and there was currently someone locking up. The song was close to the ending, also the best part, in the song Shattered by Trading Yesterday. I bit my lip and looked down, seeing the soaked floor. I ran my fingers through my hair and decided on coming in extra early, to finish. And if not, I'll just tell my boss I began to fill ill. He'll believe it, since I didn't put up a fight on closing up.

And I've lost who I am and I can't understand why my heart is so broken rejecting your love.

The song rang throughout the parlor.

I ran to the back, putting in the bucket and broom, then rushing out, dying to be home.

But I know, all I know, is that the ends beginning.

I ran around the counter, unting my apron and hanging it on the side wall then grabbing onto my bag, draping it over my shoulder.

All this time, spent in vain, wasted years, wasted gain.

Just as I was about to unlpug my iPod, a loud slam against the front window of the parlor made my head jerk.

All is lost, hope remains, and this wars not over.

"Please, open up please!" The voice in the black hoodie screamed, he banging harder and harder onto the bullet proof glass. His head kept turning every time I peered at him. He looked to his side, which only made him slam harder. I gulped and slowly walked towards the door, my heart pounding against my chest so hard I am surprised it did not burst out. But I unlocked the door and opened it, the boy came rushing in and slammed the door shut.
