This story is a work of fiction, and all characters, places, names and situations are used fictitiously or a product of imagination. Any similarities to actual people, living or dead, to places and to businesses is entirely coincidental.

My name is Charlotte and this is my first novel on Wattpad, and also the first proper one that I've ever finished! I've written a lot of fanfiction before, and completed a few short stories, I mean, I'm always writing something, but this is the first story where every character and situation is completely my own, and that I've ever finished with a comprehensible plot. I'm nervous to post this, of course,  as I have never really had anyone read my work before, and now it's on the internet for all the world to read!

The plot, I think, isn't that good. It started off as a short story I wrote when I was 8, and found again when I was 12, and then started thinking about when I was 15. That was 3 years ago and after 1 year of writing, this story is finally finished, with, of course, LOTS of changes. It's barely recognisable from what it was originally. But because of these changes, and because it wasn't too much of a well-developed idea, the plot suffers because of it. If I were to have another go at this now, with what I know about plot devices, character development and most importantly, planning, I think it would be much better - but this is how it is. What I'm going to say is that the plot at points drifts from the end result and becomes slow at certain points, but that isn't to say I didn't have a blast writing it!

Warnings

- use of mild/strong language (especially towards the end)

- references to sexual/adult themes

- large amount of violence and gore (in the second half)

Adeline is a story set in 1913, a date that I chose due to the rising political tensions at the time, and it's about a girl who has lost her way in life until accidentally kidnaps a man that introduces her to a new kind of happiness. She is suddenly torn between the life that she has grown used to over the years, a man that hates her, violence and crime, and a newfound life with the prospects of peace and family. She has to choose which one is easiest to fall into.

So that's it for introductions! Again, this is my first proper little novella, so there are places that are a little odd and slow, and, as no one but me has read it yet, I'm not sure how interesting it is to other people, but I don't want to down-sell it, so enjoy!
