We stood in the entryway again, considering our options. There were three more alternatives; a staircase leading up, an opening leading to a kitchen, and a heavy oak door, which Isacc decided led to the basement.
"Kitchen first?" he asked, pointing to the greasy yellow-grey shaft of light emanating from the disgusting window.
"Alright. Let's do this." I huffed.
Isacc strode in first, his skinny frame pressed tightly against the wall, he poked his head around the corner, blonde hair swinging low over his eyes.
"It's clear." he smiled.
"Right." I gritted through my teeth. "This place is giving me bad vibes."
"You do to, sometimes, and I'm still your friend." Isacc laughed.
"Really resenting your dumb face right now." I muttered angrily. He had stuck his head into the fridge, and was partially hidden behind the door.
"Love ya, too Freddie."
"What?"
"Nothing."
"Well," he proclaimed, slamming the fridge closed loudly " zilch ing here."
"Alright." I shrugged, eyeing the assortment of rotten cuts of meat and vegetables resting on the chipped granite counter, and the rusted and broken utensils scattered over the floor.
"Upstairs, then?" Isacc queried.
"Sure thing." I sighed unhappily.
Both of us trod up the splintering wooden planks reluctantly, Chips mewling impatiently.
"She sounds hungry." Isacc observed. "Here." he said, fishing into his pocket and handing me some cat treats. After a short break to feed chips, we reached the top of the stairs, and were greeted with a very small, dark corridor and three diverging doorways.
"Split up?" I asked Isacc.
"No way." he breathed.
"You've watched one too many horror movies." I snickered, elbowing him in the ribs.
"I'm serious, Freddie!" He nearly yelled, turning to me. "When something gives you bad vibes, then that something is very wrong!"
"Fine, then." I cut back, scowling."Sorry." We both mumbled at the same time, an awkward silence settling over us.
"The rule of right!" I declared finally.
"The what of what?" Isacc questioned me , cocking his head to the side like a lost puppy.
"The rule of right." I explained patiently "It's basically a law of nature that says that a right turn usually takes you somewhere good."
"Okay..." he responded shakily. We both stepped slowly into the room and gasped at what we saw.
(A/N Don't you just love filler plot with a cliffhanger? :) )
