00. prologue : the definition of normal
❝She often smelled of lavender. Maybe it was her hair, her clothes; or maybe it was just her.❞
Lavender has a unique smell. It clings, it soothes, it chokes. The cloying scent of it is something close to unforgettable: a common fragrance so rarely appreciated by the masses. Sure, it's common, it's everywhere, but it's so often overlooked.
Estelle Wright was like lavender. She's everything good and bad rolled up in one. She always felt like danger and death seemed to follow her wherever she went. It was like something insidious, waiting in the shadows, picking apart her life to find the perfect moments to strike. Maybe it was just coincidence, maybe not, but whatever it was still scared her.
Whatever thing hidden in the little town of Hawkins, Estelle wanted to avoid at all costs. It didn't matter with her luck, though. Everything that can go wrong, will - a motto she seemed to live by.
She only wanted a normal high school life hanging around with her (albeit asshole-ish) friends and doing normal teenage stuff. She liked her life, her friends, her on again off again relationships. But now the definition of normal always seemed to be changing, and little did she know nothing would be the same again.
Not when the lights in Hawkins continued to flicker randomly throughout the night. Not when another world laid just beyond her fingertips - out of sight and out of conscious mind. It was sitting idly, watching and waiting waiting for the perfect moment to strike from the shadows of the small town.
cast;
