One day, the thought came strongly to me:

What if we could sit at the feet of Nephi's wife, and hear her side of the story?

This novel is the result.

Thank you for taking a sneak peak at it! I'm excited and grateful for your interest, and hope you enjoy it. It will be available to read here (FREE) for a limited time, before it gets submitted to the publishers.

A few things you should know: although this story IS based on the record written by Nephi as found in The Book of Mormon, it is a work of fiction.  I am trying to ensure this story could actually fit "between the lines" of the information we do have. (If at first it doesn't appear to, please keep reading) I also will be submitting historical notes for the back of the book, but haven't yet finished compiling them.)

I would be grateful for your feedback in helping me continue to refine this work before submitting it. (Please be honest, but gentle, okay?) I've put several years of blood, sweat, and prayers into crafting this story. I do believe Nephi and his wife (whose name we don't actually know--and is most certainly NOT "Tabietha") are both very aware of this project and the love and admiration I have for them and all they've gone through. And I think they're okay with this story, (even though it has been "Hollywood-ized" a bit) because its intent is to help bring us more thoughtfully to ponder Nephi's record.

I feel as if I've come to feel "Tabietha's" personality while I've worked on this story. She reminds me of Marjorie Hinckley: smart, savvy, strong, but an unassuming woman of great faith. A little bit shy, perhaps, one who is perfectly content to stay out of the spotlight. And, like Sister Hinckley, I believe she has a delightful sense of humor, a love of life, of family, and of fun -- and a positive way of looking at things.

It has been an honor and privilege to work on this fictional tale of her love story with Nephi, and I hope one day, to be privileged to actually meet her, and sit at her feet to hear her story, as only she could tell it.

Until then, I hope we will be able to enjoy this tale in the meantime.
