In the year 1998 during summers somewhere in Africa at around 10:30 CAT,in a local colonial hospital screams were heard of a little child seconds old. This is what the doctors announced to my mum as a bouncy baby boy.
I guess this is the only day my mum cried when I smilled my dimples in.
Days later,I was baptised in the Roman catholic church by a white priest CSSP REV.FR P.LEONARD. at that time there were few or no African priests since christianity had just been introduced a few years back.I was baptised Kennedy then later given a name as custom requires according to the time of birth,I was named Ochieng(which means sun).I was a source of joy and bright light to my family. As I grew up I started to notice that the world was not all about me,since I had elder siblings :vin and pilar my bro and siz respectively.Their prescence did not affect my hapinnes since I was the last born and the most loved one in my family.
At the age of 4 still a little kid,one day as I was escorting my mum out together with my nunny,we passed across a building and I could hear voices of other kids shouting. And guess what I was interested in joining them.I cried till my mum agreed to take me there and that's how I started schooling at Vision school.
By crying inorder for me to be enrolled in that school was absolute evidence of a bright boy with a bright future ahead.
My stay in that institution was a complete fun since I was a social guy and this not only enabled me to have friends but also brought a sense of brotherliness.
At the end of the term,I emerged position 7 out of 7 which to a 4 year old is a great achievement.I presented my reportform to my parents and siblings at home and to my surprise, instead of congratulatory remarks,I was laughed at and that's when I realised that school is about reading.
Guess what my next results would be now that I knew how to hold my pencil do some reading though not complex and how to do some simple calculations. The end really justified the means. At the end of the second term,the7 turned into a 2 and now out of 20since the population of the class had increased immesely.I studied there for another year till I turned six then I shifted to a higher learning institution.....
