and never did I look at anything the same way again. Everything changed, and I never thougnt about everything. I had completely crashed down like everyone. And I was happy.

Chapter 5

Joan woke up like she was ready to save the world. She ate her breakfast fast which resulted to everyone staring at her inhale scrambled eggs and bacon with some toast. Mark, especially.

Joan wanted to catch up with him at the bus stop, they did live in the same street. Just the bus stop, nothing more, he was still pretty weird, she didn't want any trouble. She knew she couldn't change the way he was like she did, he was hopeless, and it angered her, because he HAS a choice. He CAN stop being like that. He CAN change his clothes. She didn't really have a choice.

She knew she couldn't change him, she knew he was weird, but she'd just be the same with ll the cafeteria demons if she just sat there staring at him. She wasn't going to take him out of the corner, she was going to stand beside him there.

Thinking that, Joan basically inhaled her scrambled eggs amd bacons and stood up. Mark snapped and finally asked her.

"Where are you going" which definitely did not sound like a question, it sounded like a demand for an answer. He didn't even look at her while saying it.

"Mark..." her mom said taking his hands.

"I'm going to catch the bus" Mark stared at her.

"Mom drives you to school"

"No"

"Go with Mom, Joan" he said, which came out in a growl.

"No." Joan said, glaring right back.

"Mark... let her go, let her socialize" her mom said, with a reasuring smile.

"What? She could get raped! She could get bullied! You all know what happened last time we just let her go," he said, half-shouting.

Joan backed away and said, "shut up"

"You all know! Last time we left her alone she came back here beaten!"

Joan closed her eyes tightly and shouted right back "Shut up! Shut up! shut up!"

"Last time, she came back here, she was covered with blood" he said, touching her hair and glaring at her. Joan snapped and slapped Mark right in the face. She could hear her mother come up towards him. She felt tears runs down the side of her face.

"BULLSHIT!" she shouted at Mark. Mark pushed his mother away and went to Joan, staring right into her eyes, which were pained and covered with tears.

"Joan, go with mom" he said, not changing his expression one bit.

"That's not for you to decide!" she shouted at Mark. She never shouted at Mark, well, until now. Mark was taken aback but did not bat an eye.

"You always! You always decide for me! I'm not seven anymore, Mark!" she said, sobbing. And Mark looked away as if he didn't want her to see the hurt in his eyes.

"I'm older than you for Christ's sake! Yet you always protect me like i'm yours to own! I have a life to live, Mark! If I get bullied, just let me fucking be! I'm sorry i'm so hopeless, I can't change that. But someday I will graduate college, get a job, get married and you won't be by my side all that time." she said, crying harder than ever.

"Don't say that!" Mark said, shouting and holding back his tears.

"It's the truth, Mark! And if you can't accept that, then that's your loss"
