My skin began to glow softly as if I swallowed the moon, my hair shimmered like the darkest night, twinkling like the stars that cover the night sky. Once my glamour fell completely I looked at Jeremy with my striking tricolored eyes, the color of the pale winters sky on a winter's morning, the color of freshly mined charcoal, and finally the color of the blue midnight sky, Jeremy looked at me as if he'd been slapped in the face.
"M-My god! You're sidhe too!" He said nearly yelling. I quickly held my finger to his lips.
"Jeremy hush! I can't let anyone find out especially Meredith." I said a bit frantically, a look must've crossed my face because Jeremy gently moved my hand away.
"Layla, why can't she find out you're just like her, you're both Sidhe." Jeremy said quietly. I took in a trembling breath "No I will NOT cry!" I thought as I looked back at the man in front of me.
"Jeremy she's my sister, and she can never find out about it.. I'm was forbid to tell her anything.. including what happened to our father.." I said as I took a step back, hugging my arms. I held back the tears that were trying to force their way out of the corner of my eyes.
"If she were to find out... I could be in serious trouble Jeremy.." I said in a soft whisper, I looked up and Jeremy walked towards me. "I don't understand Layla.. why are you forbidden to tell her..." He said softly as he hugged me tight.
"It's a long story Jeremy and I'd rather not talk about it right now.. but I will tell you this, I have a different mother and well about a thousand years ago my mother was killed in one of the wars.. when we finally came here to the last country that would take us.. my father had to step in with a woman from the Seelie court.. for 3 years as a sign for a peace treaty between the two courts.. during the first year the woman became with child and not long after that Meredith was born and my Aunt told me it'd be best if I stayed hidden.." I explained the shortest way I possibly could before breaking down.
"That's awful.. Layla, I'm so sorry you had to go through that. You had to leave your home.. but why didn't you ever tell me this before?" Jeremy asked as he laid a hand gently on my shoulder.
"Because my Aunt can hear everything after dark even the smallest whisper.. and I couldn't risk Meredith finding out.. plus these past three years have been great.. I got to see her even if she didn't know who I was.." I said my voice was strangely calm. Soon the was a knock one the door followed by a familiar voice.
"Jeremy, You in here?" Meredith said as she knocked on the door again, "Shit!" I thought as I looked at Jeremy with wide eyes, pleading him to stall her.
"Hold on, just need a minute." He said as I closed my eyes and let my Glamour slip back over my body like a familiar coat, I pictured my hair pure black, I pictured my skin to be a little less white so I looked more goth than anything else, my eyes were now gray while I placed glamour over my face to make it look like I had dark makeup on. I opened my eyes and hurried to my desk then nodded at Jeremy.
"Alright come on in.." He said as he sat down further away in one of the chairs, Meredith stalked into the room and looked at both Jeremy and Myself.
"Did I just intrude on something?.." She asked raising an eyebrow "I didn't think she was your type Jeremy." She said with a soft chuckle. "It's not like that Meredith, I was simply talking with my friend here about the news I received from you, she is part fey after all." He said as he looked at her with a smile.
"That's right, I was in the middle of my paperwork when he came in so, if you guys don't mind I'd like to get back to it." I said sounding a bit down. They both nodded and walked out of my office shutting the door behind them. Once I knew they were gone the tears that pushed at the corner of my eyes finally fell.
