Mi Jae stared at the rusted bathroom mirror, she felt fat, she had felt empty. She sank to the floor crying. Nam Joon had bullied her, again. She grabbed the bloody razor off the floor and began to cut the emotional pain alway. She masked her physical pain with emotional pain, that's how it was. She bandaged her cuts, hiding them by a long-sleeved shirt. She pulled up her long dark wavy hair, and washed her face. No matter how hard Mi Jae tried, she just couldn't sleep, the constant ringing of his voice kept getting caught in her head. The silence of the night, was the only time where she felt like she could be herself, in the midst of everything. Mi Jae curled up, crying herself to sleep.
When she woke up, she headed to the bathroom. She hadn't eaten in days, slowly losing weight and her hope. She stepped on the scale, The number she tried so hard to achieve seemed so far far away, locked inside a deep dark utopia.
She grabbed her makeup bag, applying generous amounts of it, until at least a few of her insecurities were masked. She pulled her hair into a half-up half-down bun, Even her long hair couldn't cover up her body. Mi Jae grabbed her backpack, and biked four miles to the school. The ride was a certain placidly in this world of conflict. For Mi Jae school was a living hell, an insecure blanket of fear. She never once didn't go to school because of the bullying. She wanted good grades so she could graduate early out of this hell hole.Walking into the building was like drowning, you can't breathe until you come up to the surface, grasping for air. Mi Jae walked to her locker in silence just as usual. Nothing changed in her town, everyday the same as before, a constant reoccurrence. When she finally got to her locker, she twisted the lock until she found her code. After she opened it, Thousands of pamphlets flew out of her locker. Behind her, Nam Joon, Ri ah and Jee young, laughed in harmony. Mi Jae bent over to pick one up. The pamphlet read; "How To loose Weight, The Heathy Way!" The cover featured a skinny girl, holding an apple. Mi Jae threw the pamphlet on the ground, closed her locker, and ran to the bathroom.
Inside the bathroom sat Mi Jae, sitting on the toilet crying. She quickly held her mouth close as she heard the sound of heels clicking on the hard linoleum floors. Tears slipped down her cheeks.
"Mi Jae's face was so priceless!" Jee Young shrieked
"Not the reaction I was looking for, I think we might have to test her some more" Ri ah noted.
"Yea, her face is ugly anyway, it was probably just her resting bitch face" Jee Young laughed, trying to shut up.
Ri ah's heels clicked once again, but this time with a certain deadly force.
"She'll get what she deserves you just wait, Jee Young" She strutted out of the door, as Jee Young scurried after her.Mi Jae slowly opened the bathroom stall door, wiped her tears, and headed to class. Mi Jae walked to class, watching kids laugh, and talk to their friends, it would be nice to have even one. She sighed, and walked into the classroom looking for a seat. She walked to the back of the classroom, and shrank in her chair, hoping to not be noticed. The classroom slowly began to fill up with students. The bell rang, the students stopped talking waiting for teacher instruction. The teacher walked in with a new student. A boy. He had brown, almost black hair, that was wavy, cascading across his face. His dark brown eyes were almost, intimidating.
"Students we have a new student!" The teacher announced. All of the girls shrieked in delight. The boy stood and smiled, silently. He was wearing jeans, and the school's regular uniform. His shoes were brand new, not a scuff on them. There was something strange about this boy.
"Well! Introduce yourself!" The teacher scolded him, hitting him atop his head. "My name is Kim Taehyung, I moved here from Seoul." He bowed
"Okay Mr. Kim please take a seat next to Mi Jae all the way in the back!" Announced the teacher. Heads turned to me. Shit was going to go down. I was sitting by the new boy, that I'm sure half of the school will have a crush on by tomorrow. The whole class, Mi Jae wondered about the new boy. Great, she thought. Another person to laugh at her. Mi Jae bit her lip. Suddenly she noticed out of her peripheral vision, that the new kid was starring at her. She put her head down, trying to avoid eye contact.
"Okay, students we will be doing partner projects!" The teacher exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air. The students began to jump up in their seats, half of them hoping they will be partners with the new kid. Not me. I'd rather be partners with Nam joon.
"But!" The teacher yelled to shush the class. "We will be going by last name" said the teacher.
"Whoever is first in the alphabet gets to choose their partner!" Clapped the teacher.
"Mr. Kim, I guess you are first!" Said the teacher.
Mi Jae looked at the new kid to see who he'd pick. The whole class waited in anticipation.
"Mi Jae" He shrugged.
The whole class erupted into chaos.
