"You seem, out of it today." I looked up from my book to see Calvin delivering my coffee to me.
"You know Calvin, curiosity killed the cat." I always did this to him, never giving him a straight answer.
"But satisfaction brought it back." And that stupid reply.
When I think of 'curiosity killed the cat' it means to me to not put your nose in someones business, which is true. Every time someone try's me, the next one get even father from figuring me out. And that stupid response, 'but satisfaction brought it back' it's just bullshit. Only one person had gotten through me entirely and when they got the satisfaction they wanted I think it killed them even more than it did before.
I shake my head and Calvin gave up again once again and went away to serve other people.
I thought back to today and I could feel a headache coming on. I took a sip of my coffee and opened my book again.
Today was a different book I went with a classic, one that I could never get old.
I went with The Outsiders. I don't know what I love about it more, how a group of guys who have nothing can stay happy with all the shit in their life come at them almost all at once. But one thing is for sure. The famous quote.
"Stay golden, Ponyboy." I turn my head and see a new face.
"I'm sorry, that's my favorite book." I smile at the new boy.
"I'm Cameron!" I smile at him.
I was just about to open my mouth when Calvin came in and filled in the new boy for me.
"Good luck, I've been trying to get a name out of her for three years. But who knows, you might have a little better luck than me." I watch Cameron smile.
"I like puzzles, they're always solvable!" He seems so confident that when he realizes I'm a puzzle with missing pieces and a non-solvable one, he'll move on and I'll keep out the next person.
"Good luck with that, Cameron. It was nice meeting you." I smile as I grab my book and coffee as I walk past him he whispered.
"Hope to see you soon." I don't know why, but those five words made me feel... happy, excited, a whole bunch of emotions I haven't felt in a long time.
I walk out and open my car and put my book in the backseat and my coffee in my cup holder, leaving it half full or half empty.
I look back at Cameron and get into my car and drive away.

"Sweetie, wake up!" My eyes have never opened so fast. I sit up in my head to see my dad standing by the door."Why are you home? Especially on a Thursday?" I looked at the time and already saw I was late for school meaning I would get a detention.
"I wanted to tell you that Jeff Carson is throwing a party on Saturday and you must go, and yes, that means you must wear a dress. I left some money for you downstairs in an envelope to go shopping for a dress after school today or tomorrow." I groan. I usually can get out of anyone's party's except the Carson's. My fathers been trying to set me up with his son forever.
"Fine. Don't be surprised if you get a call from school saying I didn't show up." My father nodded not even caring that I'm ditching school.
"I'll leave more money then so you can go shop all day." I couldn't even protest about the money because he had turned away and walked down the hall.
I flinched as I heard the front door slam shut. I let out a sigh.
I decided to get up and take a shower to wake me up fully, as if telling me that I have to go to party isn't enough of a rude awakening.
