Chapter 1 : Wake up, you dreamer!
I was sitting at the front row while our teacher was discussing our lesson for the day. Suddenly,I noticed somebody seated beside me. I did not care who he was for I know him so well. He was Josh, my one and only crush.
“Hey, how are you?” he said as he stared at me like I had a debt or something.
“Why did you ask?” I asked him while raising my eyebrow.
“Don’t give me that look. I was just asking.” He smiled as he turned his attention to the teacher.
He was such a nice guy. For me, he was so perfect. He was funny, intelligent, humble and handsome that’s why a lot of girls were attracted to him. I could not blame them. That’s just him. That’s his charm. I have to say, his girlfriend was so lucky (if he has any).
“Can I ask you out?” he whispered to me. Am I hearing this right? Astonished, I turned to him and give him the “are-you-kidding-me?” look. This can’t be happening.
“Are you serious? Are you sick?” I asked, still could not believe on what he was saying.
“Do I look like I’m kidding?” he answered giving me a very innocent yet serious look. Then, all of a sudden, I heard somebody said “Hey! Wake up! You’re going to be late!”
“Huh?” I asked. As soon as I heard that word, I realized that I was only dreaming. I just hate my mom right now. Why do you have to wake me up mom?
“Breakfast is ready! Prepare now. I don’t want to waste my time.” Mom said as she folded my blankets. I immediately prepared myself to school and then headed to the kitchen. I ate, bade goodbye and then went to school.
That’s my daily routine. I guessed I was used to it. If you asked me about my Mom, I could tell you every single detail about her but if you asked me where my father was, I’m not quite sure where he was. Aside from Mom, who would tell me that he was gone and went into a far away place and had another family, I had no other information into his whereabouts. Anyways, I’m still happy without him. I guessed? I had no grudges for him because I did not have the right because I did not know what happened a long time ago.
I arrived in school very early. Well, I’m always early because mom would not want me to be late. She’s very strict when it comes to time management. She said that it’s a matter of life and death if you’re late. She’s a business woman,so maybe that explains her attitude towards time.
"Hey, Ms. Early bird." a voice from my behind greeted me as I put me bag on my desk. I turned to her with a very warm smile. It was Melany.
"Hey Mel. What a miracle, you're not late!" I blurted.
"Just because you're the most punctual here, that does not mean I can't be early too." she responded as if she was offended by what I just said. Mel was a sensitive girl. She cried for almost everything. But knowing her for like ten years? She was such a good friend.
"By the way, have you seen Josh?" I asked.
"No! I didn't see him. Usually he was early but I think he will be late today. You know what?Just a thought, maybe it's time for you to confess your feelings to him." she adviced as if she was my doctor. What was she thinking? I can't make the first move and will never do it. I'm not that desperate.
"You know what? You should keep your mouth shot." I said as I raised my eyebrow.
"Okay fine. I was just suggesting. You've been keeping that feeling for four years now. Don't you think it's time to let that go?"
"And then what? Court him? begged for his love? Even if the world would turn upside down, I would never do that!"
"What would you not do?" a voice from my behind replied and right at that moment, I was sure that I turned red. Luckyly, I was not facing him.I knew that voice so well. The voice that captivated me since the day I heard him singing my favorite song.
"Nothing! seriously, it's none of your business!" I said. He came closer to me and looked into my eyes. Please don't look at me like that! Please! I might melt. Please, stop tormenting me.
"You know what? I really loved teasing you! I love your reaction but you should be nice sometimes and smile. I loved it when you're smiling." he smiled and turned away and walked into his desk. I'm not mean okay? I'm just trying my best to be mean so that I won't fall for him but I guess it's not working. I don't know if he had an idea that I liked him so much.
"Girl, please be kind to him. How will he know that you have something for him?" Mel whispered to me. She's right, but I have already made my decision as of now. He didn't have to know. I guessed it's better off that way.
