The relationship didn’t start out bad, but things progressively got worse as the months wore on. Devon seemed nice on the outside, but when angered, there was no stopping him. He usually took it out on his girlfriend, Kirstie. It didn’t start out this way. Kirstie knew she had to end things and things just kept getting worse, but there was no way she could make it out of this relationship unharmed.

“Anyone know where Kirstie is?” Avi asked at rehearsals. Practice had started 10 minutes ago, and there was still no sign of her.
“Last I heard she was going to be out with Devon until 2 o’clock,” Mitch said grabbing his water bottle from the coffee table. “Should we call her?”
“Just texted her,” Scott said looking up at his phone for a moment.
A few moments later, Kirstie entered. “Sorry I’m late guys,” she began. “Devon and I, um, went to see a movie. Yeah.”
“Everything alright?” Avi asked. “You seem a little shaken.”
“I’m fine,” Kirsite said, not really selling it. “Can we just practice?”
Avi dropped it there. ‘Something isn’t right,’ he thought. ‘Something about her has been different lately. I just can’t figure out what it is.’ He didn’t pay much attention to his line the rest of rehearsal; he just watched Kirstie.
Every time someone moved towards her suddenly or during choreography, she’d flinch just a little. She seemed scared every time anyone moved near her. ‘Is she afraid we are going to hurt her?’ Avi thought. He really liked Kirstie, so seeing her confused and scared, almost, wasn’t something he could take. ‘I’ve got to find out what’s wrong with her.’
