As Zane escorted their prisoner down to his cell, Jay turned to the black-haired pirate, "Cole, get this ship moving. We should head to the next location on the map. Don't want unwanted company catching up with us."
Cole nodded, "Got it." The burly man then started shouting orders to the rest of the crew wandering around the ship.
The pirate ship became lively with the bustle of movement. The crew hoisted the sails, tightened roped, and ran around doing other miscellaneous duties of their's. Jay walked with ease through the chaotic movements of the pirate crew and up a flight of wooden stairs with his blue coat swishing behind him and up to the boat's steering wheel. He grasped the coarse wood handles in his hands and looked out across the water and down at his crew. He breathed in deeply and let the smell of the salt water linger in him before letting the breath out.
CRASH! Suddenly a cannonball barely missed the pirate ship, landing in the water nearby creating a small geyser of water. Cole ran up the steps with a wild look of panic in his hazel eyes. "Captain! There's a ship behind us, and they've begun to attack!"
"Well, I'm not blind, Cole," the captain reprimanded his right hand man, "I just saw that cannon ball inches away from my ship. Now, get this ship moving! Quick!"
"Aye, Captain Jay," Cole responded then began shouting orders, running back down the steps to help.
Jay rushed towards Ye rickety railing of the ship and took a sliver spyglass out of his coat pocket. He placed the glass up to his eye and peered out at the ship that was following him. He grimaced, of course it had to be her following him.
The auburn haired captain ran back to the steering wheel while his crew below did everything to help their ship move faster. Jay glanced down at the golden ring he worse on his finger. No one knew besides him that the ring wasn't ordinary.
It had immense power that caused huge lightning storms at his will. Great for sinking opponent ship, however with the storms came massive waves that were hard to sail upon. Hence, the reason why Jay didn't use his powers a whole lot while out on the sea. On land, the ring was no problem. There was no water to cause waves so he could just summon lightning into his hands and use it to attack.
The ring must be why she's following us this time. Jay thought to himself, She must've found out about its powers. Which means she's hunting for the treasure as well.
Jay looked out behind him on the sea again and saw that the other pirate ship was gaining on them. The pirate ship with the red flags, as it was known, was infamous for being an extremely fast ship. Not to mention it was remarkably good at sailing though stormy waters, so using the lightning ring was out of the question.
Ok, Jay had lied to his prisoner earlier, his ship wasn't the fastest that he knew of. The ship with the red flags was. The chasing pirate ship shot another cannon ball at Jay's ship. This time, the cannon ball didn't miss. It tore right though one of the masts causing the sail to sore downwards and topple off of the ship straight into the depths below.
"Damn it!" Jay swore as his ship slowed down without the help of the other sail.
The chase was over soon. The pirate ship with the red flags soon caught up with Jay's ship. Sharp jagged hooks were shot from the red flagged ship and latched onto the railing of Jay's ship. The pirate crew stiffened, growing hostile as they took out their weapons to prepare for a fight.
Captain Jay watched his his electric blue eye narrowed watching as a figure slid down one of the ropes attached to the grappling hook and landed with a slight thud on Jay's ship. The figure straightened, her face clearly visible now as she swiped strands of ebony hair out of her dark, fierce blue eyes.
