Sleeping peacefully, your dreams lead you to him, his chocolate brown eyes leading you on. Most would say this was wrong, this love you had for him. The love you knew he would never have for you. However, in your dreams anything was possible, you could love him here and he could love you. The dream was short lived though, the calling of your name slowly began to pull you from your peaceful slumber. You closed your eyes tightly fighting the urge to wake, wanting to stay in the dream.
“Jackie.” The voice was soothing, soft and sweet.Your eyes flattered open slowly and for a moment you thought it was him, the one you were dreaming about. As your mind cleared, though, you realized it wasn’t his chocolate eyes you were staring into but his brothers. You sighed sadly, smiling weakly at your friend and neighbor. He smiled back at you happily. “Come on dear, you have to get ready.” He told you excited, in his heavy German accent. You gave him a confused look, silently questioning him. “I already picked you an outfit,” he told you, smiling brightly. You ignored the urge to question him. You knew that once he decided the two of you were going to do something you would be doing it wither you wanted to or not.
Regretfully you got up from your warm, comfortable bed looking at the outfit laid on the end of your bed. It made you wonder how long Bill had been in your room before waking you. You shrugged lightly, accepting Bill’s chose in clothing. Dark wash jeans with a band tee, black converses and several bracelets, picking up the clothes you made your way to your bathroom quickly dressing. After walking back out to your bedroom, Bill grabbed your hand pulling you quickly out of the room and through the front door. He continued to drag you till you stood with him and his brother Tom in the studio room of their house.
“Bill, why did you drag me all the way over here,” you asked confused and genuinely curious. Although you had known Bill and Tom for some time you had never been in their studio before. You couldn’t help but be confused, not understanding why he had brought you here now. “You said you wanted to learn how to play guitar,” he told you in a “duh” tone. For some reason it still wasn’t clicking in your mind what that meant, you stared at him blankly. “I’m going to teach you how to play,” Tom explained, laughing lightly at your confused expression. As his words sunk in you nodded, a smile began spreading across your face. You set down beside Tom eagerly.
Tom pulled his Les Paul Standard onto his lap slowly showing you the correct cords for the song Forever Now. “Alright, now it’s your turn,” he told you. He placed the guitar in your lap before putting your hands in place. You bit your lip nervously as you tried to play the right cords. However, you missed several of the notes. “Let’s try something different,” Tom said. Your eyes widen when he picked you up and placed you on his lap. You let your long brown hair fall into your face trying desperately to cover up your blush. “Is this okay,” he asked you softly. If it had been anyone else you would have thought they were flirting with you. “Um yeah,” you told him biting your lip.
You had to tell your self repeatedly that it meant nothing. Tom placed his hands on yours, making sure your figures hit the right cords. Slowly his hands left yours but you continued to hit the right notes. You smiled brightly proud of yourself. As you neared the end of the song you could faintly hear Tom whispering the lyrics. “Reset your eyes, erase your mind, I will never let you down…. Whisper me all your secrets, whisper me all my secrets.” You sighed, content as the song ended. Tom turned you toward him, caressing your check and for a moment you thought he would kiss you.
However, the angry protest of Tom’s whore girlfriend caused him to pull away from you quickly. “What the hell are you two doing,” Lexi hissed. You stood up glaring at her, not liking her tone. “I was showing her how to play,” Tom explained gesturing toward his Les Paul. “Oh I’m sure you were showing her how to play,” she spit sarcastically. Your fist doubled at your sides. She was pissing you off more and more with each word she said. “She’s just a kid, I would never do that,” Tom told her. His words hit you like a slap to the face because you knew it was the truth. “I don’t want that slut anywhere near you because she obviously likes you,” Lexi exclaimed.
That was all it took, you punched her hard in the face. No one called you a slut, ever. Tom grabbed onto your shoulders pulling you away from Lexi. “What the hell Jackie,” Tom demanded. “Get out,” he shouted. The hurt you felt from his words froze you in your place. Tears pricked at your eyes as you quickly left the room. Bill was standing in the door way he reached out to grab your arm but you pulled away from him. You ran once out of their front door. You ran till you reached the safety of your room. Falling face first onto your bed you screamed into your pillow, cursing yourself for thinking he could ever love you. After all he was almost eight years older than you. Maybe he was right you were just a kid; a stupid, young, naive kid.
You sighed heavily when you heard your bedroom door open. However, you didn’t look to see who it was. You assumed it was your mom wondering why you were upset. Oh, how wrong you were. “I’m sorry.” The voice was much too deep to be your mothers. You rolled over meeting Tom’s sorrowful stare. “Don’t be sorry,” you told him. “Your right I’m just a kid,” you said bitterly. Tom sighed heavily. “But you’re not,” he said quietly. You looked at him confused surely you had heard him wrong. He placed his hand on your check caressing it just like he had before Lexi stormed in. With his figure he traced the out line of your face; going slowly from your temple to your jaw, stopping at your chin. He ran his thumb over your lips. You had never felt more nervous; your heart thudded against your chest almost painfully.
Slowly he lowered his lips to yours, stopping just shy of them touching. You wondered if he could hear the pounding of your heart. If he knew just what he was doing to you? You wanted to tell him to quit teasing you but he being this close made you weak. Finally his lips met yours. It was everything you had imagined it would be; fireworks, the whole nine. The kiss was short and sweet. You smiled brightly up at Tom and he returned it. “But I’m just a kid,” you said innocently to him, smiling mischievously. “Not just any kid. You’re the kid I’m in love with and I don’t give a damn what anyone says.” He told you honestly with a smile. He’s words warmed you to the core. He loved you.
