Jaspers POV: Spooky IslandThe wind blew into my dirty blonde hair as I wearily looked across the calm lake towards Camp Campbell. I missed the camp, I missed my friends, most importantly, I missed Davey. I folded my shaky arms in towards my chest and slouched a bit. I felt a burning sensation suddenly starting in my eyes and I fought the urge to just bawl my eyes out. I gripped my sleeves tightly, making my fists as tight as possible. Inside I felt regret and pain surge through my veins like lightning. As my emotions pulled me down deeper and deeper into an endless hole, I was drawn towards a moving figure floating across the lake. I squinted, still folding my arms, and leaned forward a bit. Could it be? No. I reassured myself. Wait. I placed my hand above my eyes to try and get a better view across the misty lake. It looked like the row boat from Camp Campbell! I looked more closely at the boat and noticed a familiar face. DAVEY?! It was Davey! I couldn't believe my eyes. He appeared to be in the boat with some other person I couldn't make out. Then I noticed something, they were both wearing Camp Campbell T-Shirts. After all these years, did Davey worked there? I wanted to talk to Davey so badly but I knew I would never get the chance. He was obviously not coming to Spooky Island, I mean why would he? I was about to walk away and try to forget I ever saw him when a sudden gust of wind blew across the lake. Looking up at the sky, I saw that it was covered with intimidating dark clouds. I knew there was going to be a storm, and Davey was in the middle of the lake! I didn't know what to do, the storm was coming and Davey's boat was far away from Camp Campbell. Then, all of a sudden, the wind practically picked up and carried the boat towards Spooky Island with ease and without hesitation. Even though I knew Davey did not want to end up here, I was secretly elated. Maybe I would get a chance to talk to him after all!
David's POV: Spooky Island
I hastily gripped onto the sides of the wooden rowboat, not paying any mind to the oars I had dropped into the water. I could hear Gwen's incomprehensible words, she was screaming right behind my ears as the boat was carried away by the raging winds. I felt her tightly grip my waist in panic as we hurdled towards Spooky Island. Out of the corner of my eye I could see her holding on to the side of the boat as tight as she could.
"We're gonna crash!" Gwen screamed, holding even tighter.
CrASH! The boat slammed into a tall, thick rock right in front of the island. I was flown forwards and landed on my back on the boat floor, crashing my head against the wood. I heard Gwen land next to me and heard the ominous thud of her skull crashing against the rocks. I quickly opened my eyes out of pain, and without hesitation I jolted up in a nervous sweat, helping Gwen sit up.
"Gwen?!" I asked, placing a hand on her shoulder, lightly shaking her back and forth. Slowly, Gwen started to open her eyes. I felt a wave of relief rush over me and my body relaxed once again. Gwen started to rub her forehead shakily. "Are you alright, Gwen?" I asked her once more. She nodded slightly, her eyes barely open. Then she slowly stood up and looked around the island. That's when I realised what had really happened. We were stranded on an island. Our boat was completely broken. And we still had to save Max. Diddly darn it.
"So, what're we gonna do?" Gwen asked quietly, her arms crossed.
"Well, we can start by finding some more wood to build a new boat," I said.
Gwen nodded and started into the forested part of the island. I followed close behind her, looking for some broken tree branches we could use. But just after we had lost sight of the shore, it began to rain. And I don't mean just rain. It poured. Within seconds we were both soaked and scrambling to find some sort of shelter. There was no luck. I wanted to cry. We were stuck in the rain, on an island, with no boat to get back, no one to watch the campers, and Max was still at the Wood Scouts. But I put on a positive face because I am an optimist.
"Let's keep going. Maybe there's a cabin or something somewhere." She nodded and we set off walking again. Then she stopped for a minute.
Ugh! I am just so mad right now! We came all the way out here to save Max even though it was his fault he got kidnapped, and what do we get? No Max, a concussion, soaking wet, and stranded." Gwen sighed. Then she stopped abruptly as we reached the middle of a clearing. I stopped as well and looked at her. Her arms were folded and she was looking down at the ground sadly.
"I'm sorry Gwen, it's all my fault we got into this mess," I told her apologetically. "I'm the one who made us go on this 'quest' to save Max. I'm the one to blame."
"Yeah you are. God, you are so annoying David!"
Gwen and I looked at each other for a moment, then we both stared at the ground.
"We should keep looking for the logs to make a boat," I said.
"Yeah we should," Gwen replied. She started walking away.
I looked up, and I couldn't help but notice something out of the corner of my eye. Is it?... no. It couldn't be, could it? I decided I had just imagined it. After all, I had hit my head pretty hard.Jasper POV: Spooky Island
I looked and walked over to Cameron's old summer home. Did Davey see me? Maybe he is confused. Once inside to house I walked into Cameron's old library and picked up a book. I had already read all of the books in the library during my time on Spooky Island, but I needed something to distract me from my confusing thoughts. I had just started reading when I heard some voices. Maybe it was Davey!
"Until it stops raining we can take shelter in here." It was Davey! I heard the door to the house creak open, then a few moments later Davey walked into the library with a girl I had seen him with before. He saw me, and all the color left his face. He rubbed his eyes and looked back up at me.
"Who are you?" The girl asked me, confused and a little shocked. Davey looked back at her.
"You see him too?" Davey asked in awe.
"Of course, he is sitting right there," she replied to David. "Did you run away from your camp?" The girl asked me.
"Um, Gwen could you give me a second?" Davey asked.
"Okay, Sure." She said in a confused tone and she left the room, giving Davey quizzical looks. Davey looked at me.
"Jasper, is that you?"
