Jairus and Mackenzie had been on the road for a few hours, on their way to go pick up Kelly. Ever since that weird hug they had, they had barely spoken more than ten words to each other. Jairus was blasting some music though, so it made the car ride way more bearable.

"Hey Jairus?" Mackenzie looked over at him.

Jairus reached for the stereo knob and turned the music down. He looked over at Mackenzie.

"Yeah, what's up?"

"I'm starving...can we go get some food?" she asked.

"Oh, yeah of course. I'm pretty hungry too." Jairus replied. He peeled off the next exit and found a Taco Bell. Mackenzie couldn't help but laugh.

"What's so funny?" Jairus asked, smiling at Mackenzie.

"I forgot that you're the Taco Bell king." Mackenzie started laughing even harder, especially when Jairus' face fell.

"Please stop." he said quietly, he sounded genuinely hurt. Mackenzie felt bad but she didn't say anything. For some reason she had the urge to grab Jairus' hand, but she quickly told herself that was disgusting and looked out the window.

A few more hours had gone by and they had finally made it to Kelly's house. It was super late, but Kelly came running out of her house like she had just done crack.

"Oh my god hi guys!!! Mackenzie!!!!" Kelly exclaimed, pulling Mackenzie out of the car so she could hug her. "This is so crazy!"

"I know right!" Mackenzie replied, matching Kelly's excitement. "Oh, also this is Jairus."

Kelly rolled her eyes, "yeah, yeah, I know who he is." Kelly was still really mad at him for pretending to be Mer this entire time. She thought it was creepy and gross and she only agreed to this whole thing so she could meet everyone else from the group chat.

Jairus tried to shake Kelly's hand, but Kelly just gave him a dirty look and got in the back seat of his car.

"So where to next, guys?" Kelly asked.

"We're going to go pick up Les now." Jairus replied.

They eventually all got tired, way too tired to keep driving, so they stopped at a motel. Mackenzie had no money and Kelly wasn't about to help Jairus pay for anything, so Jairus paid for the room himself. There was only one bed in the room, so Kelly declared that she and Mackenzie would get it.

"Um, no. I'm paying for this room so I get to sleep on the bed. Kelly, you can sleep on the floor." Jairus demanded, awkwardly glancing at Mackenzie.

"Um-" Mackenzie started, but quickly got cut off.

"HELL NO!" Kelly shouted at Jairus. "I am not sleeping on the damn floor and I'm sure as hell not sharing a bed with YOU!"

"Well then I don't know what to tell you. Sleep in the car." Jairus shrugged.

"Fuck you." Kelly said angrily, putting a pillow a blanket down on the floor.

Jairus glanced at Mackenzie again and then got into the bed. Mackenzie didn't want to share a bed with him either, but she had nowhere else to go so she slid into the bed next to him. She was so close to the edge of the bed that she was about to fall off.

"I don't bite, you know." Jairus chuckled.

"I...know that." Mackenzie said, unsure. She knew how he was about seventeen year olds and she was finding himself weirdly attracted to him. I mean, age is just a number...right?
