Y/n joined the army under the alias of James Turner. Y/n made quick friends with the hamilsquad, especially with Lafayette. After months of hiding under the alias of James Turner, Y/n comes clean with the squad and to Major General George Washington. Due to her rising reputation as "El Diablo" for her improved shooting and close combat skills, and for also saving the life of Lafayette from an ambush, George Washington decided to let her stay in the army and promote her from Lieutenant Colonel to General Y/n "El Diablo" L/n, next to Lafayette. Together they fought relentlessly. 1780 is the winter's ball, and this will be the first time Y/n will be shown as a woman.
1780
You look in the mirror, disbelief in your eyes as this is the first you have ever seen yourself in a dress.
Or the fact at how clean you are.
You turn side to side, your reflection doing the same. It's been a while since you've let you're hair down, or wear a dress. More importantly, that you look like a girl. The dress that you are wearing is a low cut dress that's rather tight around your waist, but apparently that's in fashion. Thanks to Mulligan and his tailoring skills, he was able to design the dress to match the floral design that you discussed with him a few weeks before the party.
The little choker was an inside joke between Mulligan and you when he thought you were still James turner and would often get you in a headlock for missing targets at the shooting range.
Good times.
You sigh deeply as you once again thought of how much has happened in the last six months since you joined the army. You counted yourself lucky that General Washington was kind enough to let you stay, even though he had plenty of reason not to. And the way that your friends accepted you for who you really are, especially during times like these where women are seen...less than what they really are. What they can be and what they are truly capable of.
Mulligan and Laurens were a little hesitant but after a few days of you being you, they realized there really was nothing different about you. Only the fact that you were a woman instead of a man. Hamilton sort of knew to everyone's surprise including you. He confessed that he came across you changing one night and saw your "unmentionables". The next morning you had to explain to General Washington the next morning why Hamilton couldn't make it to training. A broken nose. But after that you apologised.
Lafayette however, was a different matter altogether. You shook your head at all the things he did after he found out James Turner was actually Y/n L/n.
A woman and not a man.
A knock on the door jolted you out of your thoughts before you could do so. "Come in!" You call out, your eyes still glued to the reflection that is you. You barely paid any attention to your visitor until they let out a low whistle, causing you to turn.
"Wow" You see Laurens standing in the doorway, his arms crossed in a relaxed state as he gazed up and down at your figure. "Mulligan did a real nice job, don't you think?" You say playfully, twirling around to show him the design. "Yeah no kidding" he remarked, taking a couple of steps closer to you. He smiles crookedly as he dragged his eyes down and back up again to stare into your eyes.
"You look beautiful, Y/n. I mean that" he says truthfully, his crooked smile turning into a full out grin. You smile back, standing a little taller with your shoulders back at the compliment. "Thanks Turtle. I just hope that I wouldn't be treated any differently than when we were on the field" you sigh hopefully. Laurens rolled his eyes at his nickname, not understanding where the hell it came from.
What Lauren's didn't know was that one drunk night he admitted to everyone that he had a weird obsession with turtles and that he wanted to be one. Luckily he was too wasted to remember anything the next day.
