The sun rays shone down on the blunette who was still bundled up in her bed, refusing to get out of her comfy state.
"MARINETTE!! ARE YOU AWAKE? BREAKFAST IS READY !! "
The sudden scream from the bakery below caused the blunette's eyes to spring open, jolting awake before falling off the bed and face first onto the floor.
"Ugh... I am now..." She grumbled.
She looked at the calendar and frowned. Another year passed already? 5 years ago today, her beloved sister had gone missing. Marinette was only 10 at the time, and she always felt that she was the one who allowed her to leave...
".....are you done? We have to go!" Marinette woke up to a voice she was not familiar with. She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes as she walked out of her room towards the source of the sound.
As she entered the living room, she spotted her sister talking to another teen. He had pitch black hair and electrifying green eyes, which stared straight at her.
"Oh great... We've woken her up."
Tikki turned around, her bright blue eyes staring at me with a certain emotion in her eyes. 10 year old Marinette could not tell what emotion it was, but now she knew. It was surprise, horror, and shame. She was horrified and ashamed to find her little sister catching her as she was about to leave. Yet that didn't stop her.
Marinette felt tears start to fall as the memory of that fateful night continued to play in her mind.
Her face broke out into an uncomfortable smile, not that she could tell at the time, and bent down to Marinette's height so that she was face to face with her.
"Mari, you should be in bed," she said in her usual gentle voice.
"W-where are you going?" Marinette asked, looking behind her at the stranger who had been talking to her sister.
"Oh.. um..," she paused, putting on a fake smile, " I'm just going out to grab some supper with my friend here! I'll just be gone for a little bit, I promise I'll be back soon okay?" she finished, in the most innocent of voices, and 10 year old Marinette had actually believed her.
"Okay!" She yawned, "Come back soon okay? Don't do anything naughty!" she said, smirking at the guy, who in turn smirked back at her, as Tikki's face turned red.
"Mari! ugh.. Oh! Here, I got you a necklace!" she said, trying to bring the conversation away from the uncomfortable topic. Marinette's eyes widened at the charm hanging from the necklace. It was made of silver, shimmering in the moonlight coming from the window, shaped like a small key.
"It's so pretty!" Marinette exclaimed in delight, wearing it over her head immediately.
Tikki's smile turned into a longing stare. "Mari... Just, remember, that one day, I might leave you... to go to college! Uh.. yeah! So whenever you're feeling down and i'm not around, just hold on to that key. And always remember that..."
"those... who wish... to sing, always... find a song." Marinette whispered, as tears steamed down her face, clutching onto the key that still hung around her neck, missing her very bestest friend and only sister.
"MARINETTE?" The call from downstairs brought her back from her thoughts.
Marinette wiped her tears away, composing herself before shouting back, "COMING!" She quickly changed into one of her favourite outfits.
