"How many time do I have to repeat this, dude? I can't sing!"
Adrien brought his hands up to eye level and pulled them down his face.
"Yea, yea, Nino. You've been repeating that few lines at least 10 times."
"But what I say is TRUE!"
Adrien shook his head, chuckling at Nino's poor attempt to lie.
"Nino, I've heard you sing before. You know when I go get food from the kitchen, I can still hear you singing from my room right?"
Adrien gave Nino a look, watching as a bright shade of red dusted his cheeks.
"A-am I really that loud?" He muttered to himself, scratching the back of his neck.
Adrien sighed at his friend, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Is this because of your stage fright?"
Nino gave him a side glance, his head slowly starting to nod.
"Dude. You have NOTHING to worry about. You sound great!" Adrien said, patting his best friend's back. Of course, not as good as me though.
But he didn't say that out loud, just in his head. (whoever gets this reference, i love you)
"Besides, think of how Alya would be so impressed by your performance~" He added, smirking as he brought up his best friend's weakness.
Nino was now bright red, the colour of his face now could probably compete with Nathaniel's hair. His crush on Alya had drastically increased since the day Marinette rejected him. (There's no magical powers in this version, so let's just say that he confessed and Marinette rejected him nicely, and they're still friends now, okay?) Alya had spotted him sitting on a bench, looking down in the dumps from the recent rejection, and came up to comfort him. From then, Nino's small infatuation for her started growing, and till now it has not stopped. For a moment, there's a silence. Adrien counted down the seconds as his friend processed all this information into his head.
3...
2...
1...
"Y-you really think she'd be impressed?" Adrien chuckled lightly, knowing his plan would work. He's taken the bait, now to reel it in.
"Of course! Who wouldn't be impressed?" Adrien continued, slowly but eagerly, reeling him in.
"Mmm... Ugh, fine. I'll sing. But only a little." Nino finally muttered out, leaving Adrien to cry out in joy.
"HALLELUJAH! Finally, that took..." He paused his celebration to look at the clock. "A whole 2 hours of persuasion! Geez Nino.. Alright how about.. this song?"
He turned his phone to face his friend, showing him the title of one of his favourite songs.
"Um.. Ok, whatever dude. You can choose."
Adrien shrugged at his friend's lack of enthusiasm, going onto the internet to find the chords of their song, allocating different vocal parts to both Nino and himself.
[time skip to a while later]
"(in unison) ...hide."
Nino smiled at the blonde boy sitting across from him.
"That... actually sounded pretty good."
He was expecting a similar reaction from the blonde, yet, Adrien had a frustrated frown on his face.
"It sounds like it's missing something... Like.. I don't know what else I could do.."
Adrien knocked on his temple, trying to think of ways to improve the already very complicated score of the piano sheets. Then, a certain bluenette's voice suddenly rang in his head.
"Can we use other instruments to help the song go along?"
"Of course! Anything you want, it is technically your cover of the song,"
"Hm, y'know.. You weren't that bad at the guitar just now.."
"Oh no, dude. Don't. I cant move all of my fingers to all the correct positions in time. Sure it was cool, but way to complex. I could only catch like the main beats."
[flashback to music lesson]
"Okay, so now that you know the basic chords, try playing a song." Adrien prompted his best friend, who had just finished learning 4 basic chords.
"Um okay..."
"Okay, G chord first, then... E minor chord.. Now!"
Nino's fingers fumbled, causing to coherent sound of the G chord to instantly cut off. Finally, he found his fingering and played the E minor chord, a bit too late.
"Uhh... Now, C chord!"
The brilliant minor chord was immediately interrupted as he yet again fumbled with his fingers.
"Hmm, okay this isn't working. How about thinking about what chord you're going to change to after this current chord?"
A look of confusion dawned upon his face, but nodded anyways. The confusion soon turned into fully focused as he concentrated on remembering the chords and their fingerings.
However, whilst he did this, he only played each chord once, too concentrated to strum multiple times like he was supposed to.
Main beats...
His eyes recalled the bag that sat in his brother's room, slowly gathering dust since his departure.
Adrien stared in fascination as his brother plucked the strings of the instrument, hitting the low bass notes perfectly, except...
"Urgh." A strangled noise emitting out of the instrument as he slammed it against the strings to stop the sound. "I'm still not on beat!" He exaclaimed in frustration, running his fingers through his already messy pitch black hair.
He felt a pair of curious eyes on him, turning to see Adrien had wandered into his room, head tilted adorably to one side in confusion.
He chuckled at his curiosity, just like a cat.
"Heya kiddo," he said, walking over to ruffle his head. An idea popped into his mind, as he stared at his younger brother.
"Hey buddy, do you wanna help?" he asked, a glint in his eye. Adrien's eyes lit up, eagerly nodding his head, running over to sit by his instrument. Laughing, he walked back over to him, "Well, you already know I can't sing a note without shattering glass." He said, glancing over quick enough to catch his brother's disgusted face, before it disappeared a second later.
"But.. you can. I just need ya to sing the melody till I catch the main beats. Okay?" He explained, smiling widely at his little helper. Adrien smiled his million dollar smile, nodding before starting to sing.
Hmm...
That's it!
Nino's words lit a light bulb in Adrien's mind, a smirk playing on his lips.
"What if... it wasn't?"

I didn't specify the instrument this time but i'm sure someone will figure it out haha :) sorry for the long wait for this chapter !! I had originally finished writing this chapter a while ago but found it too short so I didn't feel it was good enough to post. But I decided to add in a small portion which shot it up in word count nicely so here you go !! Next chapter will hopefully come out soon ? No promises !! But probably only aft this week :) seeya !!
