I clear my mind and focus on the dragons, listening for their voices amidst the chaos. I reach for the magic that links the dragons to this island and to Kronos.

"I will never give up." Blood fills my mouth and I spit it out onto the sand. My lips are cracked and dry.

Threads of magic materialize in my mind. I can feel the dragons pulling against the invisible threads that bind them.

Each thread of magic is linked to an individual dragon. I focus on one thread and I picture the thread snapping.

A dragon roars and breaks from the pack.

It's working.

Kronos staggers backwards. He felt the thread break.

His eyes widen in disbelief. He lurches towards me, trying to stop me, but the newly freed dragon blocks his path.

I keep my focus, breaking one thread at a time. The dragons lift into the sky one at a time, fleeing their master. Magic pulses through me, draining me further with each thread I break. My body trembles and I fall to my knees.

"Thea watch out!" Sarah shouts. I turn towards her voice. She and Easton are running towards me frantically. The dragons are circling above and have joined the fight, attacking Kronos' army of Dark Soldiers.

A knife hurtles through the air and slices into my forearm. I whirl around to find that Kronos has paralyzed the dragon that was blocking him by cutting it with the Blade of Dawn.

He throws another knife at me. I barely dodge it. I am too weak to run. I can barely move.

Kronos knocks me to the ground.

"This ends now." He growls. He wields the Blade of Dawn above my head.

I have come too far to fail now. I am so close. I reach for the thread of dark magic that gives Kronos his powers and I focus on it with every last bit of energy I have. Kronos recoils and drops the dagger.

This is my chance.

I reach for the dagger. So does Kronos. My hand lands on the hilt first.

I swing recklessly with the last ounce of strength I have. Kronos throws his body backwards to avoid my attack.

My heart sinks.

I missed. I am sure of it.

I wait for Kronos to leap to his feet and deliver a fatal blow with his sword, but he doesn't move.

I hold up the Blade of Dawn.

A single drop of blood travels down the tip of the blade.
