"This is a gift-"
A bright white light distrupeted my sleep, forcing me to open my eyes from a dream of which I could not remeber except 4 words, "This is a gift-" which even that wasn't finished. I thought to myself, the first mystery of the day and I haven't even been awake 5minutes. The temperature was cold, with a damp like texture in the air. There were four walls; three of which were space grey and one as a feature wall, which was a picture of the galaxy. Emmerced into the detail, the colours and designs over powered my mind. It felt full, weird. I had not woken up properly yet to notice that my bodie was condemned to the bed on which I was lying on. As I concentrated on the feature wall, it was like I zoned out. The only sense I had was sight which felt like it had been enhanced, (it was like I could see the very fibres of the wallpaper, the combination of colours to create one solid)all others had disappeared. A sudden uncontrollable itch arose on my forehead, which I then zoned back in forcing all my senses to balance once again. I went to lift up my arm and was stopped by handcuffs strapped to my hands and feet. The cuffs were coloured white, with a fresh lick of what I thought to be paint, the fabric looked ancient, it had rips, pulled pieces of fabric; you could tell they had been used a lot, What for though I didn't not know. My skin felt clammy and looked pale. I could feel dead skin cells flaking off my arms and legs. I scanned up my arms, the left first; which was perfectly fine. I then scanned up my right arm; from my hand to shoulder; following the shape and curves that defined my arm. I reached my elbow to see a shocking surprise. A needle of some sort, which was atleast 10cm long, was lodged into my vain whilst resting on my forearm. What ever anistetic I was put under was begging to wear off, I could slowly feel pain infect my body, spreading from one area to the next. My head began to throb like a knife had had cut straight through it, causing pain in my eyes which were turning red. My eyes followed the plastic pipe to an IV drip with three bags hanging from a small metallic peg. In the bag was a liquid substance which was - from what I could tell- was a dark blue. I continued to search the whole room, thoughts and questions ambushed my mind. I soon realised that there was no window, which again bought up another mystery question to answer for today, What was the bright white light that woke me up?Confused and scared is how I felt. I was currently condemned to a bed, (which was cold and soft but still quite firm) by handcuffs on my hands and feet; that I had no clue how they got there. I had no memory of the past 72hours and worst of all, what was this substance that was being pumped into my veins?!
I closed my eyes and inhaled slowly, taking a few seconds, allowing me to calm down and take in my surroundings. Trying to recover my memories of the past 72hours turned out to be quite challenging, I dug deeper and deeper, thought harder and harder but no luck. I had not noticed in the far left corner of the room, where there was a tray on wheels which contained sergical equipment. They were all aligned in height order, largest to smallest. From what I could tell, they looked new, possibly only been used one or twice. They were a bright shiny silver, which I'm guessing would be cold to the touch of the finger. As the equipment was made out of stainless steel, it gave reflections, showing different areas of the room, giving me hints of where I was, but not revealing too much. It was like something was teasing me, giving me small hints only slightly noticeable to the. My brain was tired, I needed sleep. To the left of the tray was a bin, which was overflowing with tissues that had absorbed blood and which was now dried up.
I turned my head to the left of my bed and looked down towards the white marble flooring that was coated with a thin layer of some type of paint for a glossy effect. There were wires of similar colours with only a distinctive change that were attached to various parts of my body. I leaned over the left side of my bed a little more to try and unveil my where abouts. However what I saw I was not prepared for, there was a small drop of fresh blood, and another one but slightly larger, and another, another, another, each time getting larger and larger until the path finished and it reached its kingdom. There was a piece of surgical equipment half covered in blood whilst laying in a fresh pool of rose red blood.
I froze staring at what could only be my own blood. If it wasn't mine who else's could it be? I lay back on the bed, unable to think, like my mind had frozen up. I looked at what I was wearing, it was a hospital gown, white with a blue collar. I felt something pour down from my forehead, it was only a small drop, which was slowly turning into a stream down the left side of my head. It came to a hult at the bottom of my chin, on the very edge of my jaw.Soon to follow was a bead of sweat. The anticipation was killing me, I wanted to know what was this liquid.
After several minutes, the bead of liquid dropped from the edge of my jaw onto the gown I was wearing. I moved into several different angles to try and find one in which I could see what this substance was. After trying different angles, I finally saw what this substance of liquid was after waiting in anticipation. Fear flooded my body, once again I froze still, I couldn't believe what I had just saw. Was I dreaming? Was I still awake? I then realised that I was not dreaming and that I was awake. The substance that had dropped onto my gown was blood, my blood.
