Love

What a strange feeling?
What a risk.

To love someone is to expose your very soul to them. To give someone everything you have, your heart, your piece of mind, your pride, and to simply trust that they won't ruin you. That they won't take all you have and crush it. Tear it apart. Stomp on it.

Or even set it down and walk away.

Fear is born from care. If you didn't care about living then death wouldn't scare you, if you didn't care what others thought you wouldn't fear rejection, if you didn't care about loosing someone you wouldn't fear being left. By loving someone you give them the power to ultimately destroy you. Who cares what you look like, what you sound like, what you smell like, as long as you have someone that makes you feel loved. But what happens when it goes wrong? When the person you gave your soul to has no room for it. When the person you gave your all to sees no value in it. When the person you loved the most doesn't love you back? You have to face that poor face in the mirror. The one that doesn't feel like they're enough anymore. The one that's kept up by the constant "why's". The one that has to see their happiness in someone else and wonder "why wasn't I good enough".

The scariest part of being human is falling in love. People always ask if it hurt when you fell from heaven, No one ever asked what it felt like watching someone push you. To look at the person you gave it all to while they let you down.

So maybe you shouldn't text back?
Why bother getting attached?
What if it all goes wrong?
It's said that everyone will feel heartbreak at least once in their lifetime, what if this will be yours?

Commitment is a common fear for many reasons. But what hurts the most isn't the fights. It isn't the name calling. It won't be the mean looks. It will be when they stop caring. When they don't bother to look your way. When they don't bother to respond to the texts. When you don't bother them anymore. It will hurt more to see them pass you on the street and look your way with no trouble than when they couldn't look at you at all. Heartache is cured by others pain. It hurts a little less when others hurt too. When the one who hurt you shows that they still care- even just a little bit. But when they stop; that's when it hurts the most.

Hearts can only take so much. But some hearts will always be left empty.
