Anthony (High School, 17 years old)

It has been two weeks since I have been released from the hospital. Keith hasn't tried to do anything to me yet. School seemed emptier now. Colin was going back to a prep school he got accepted into three years ago. His mom didn't want him taking time off of school. He told me he would finish this semester at our school. He wouldn't be graduating with me. Also that cheerleader was gone. Sara, her best friend, said she and her parents moved to Rhode Island. Ellie's parents got transferred there. I would miss them so much. I could feel tears trying to fall. I wasn't going to cry. I cried enough.

Thanksgiving break was next week. I tried to be more excited about it but I couldn't. I would watch the Macy's Day Parade and football. Keith would leave and visit his family. I probably would order Chinese or pizza and watch a Christmas movie. I sighed. My eighteenth birthday was next month. Colin told me everything would change. I doubted him. My life was set in stone. Waking up everyday, I would go to school. Then I came home and deal with Keith. Summer would arrive soon. I would pack for college. Once summer was over, I was leaving to head to Brown University. It was the escape I wanted.

Someone was knocking on the door. I went to answer it. It couldn't be Keith since he was still at work. I opened the door. It was Colin! I was so relieved to see him. I let him. He walked to the kitchen and sat down at the table. He seemed troubled. He had a package with him. I joined him.

"Hey. These are for you." He handed me the item.

"What is it?" I opened it to find several journals.

"My mom said they belonged to your ancestors. She was able to save them from the fire." He told me.

I was shocked. There was something from my past. There could be so much information about my ancestors. Maybe something from the grandparents I never met. My aunt told me they passed away before I was born. I thanked him and opened up the first one.

The waters are quite choppy as I write this. I am sitting in my cabin thinking about the mission I need to complete. After the events from the last couple of days, this seems impossible. My crew needed me now. I had to keep my focus. We were almost there. Hopefully he won't find me. I have no idea what I will do if he does.

Well that was interesting to say the least. There wasn't a name on this so I had no idea who wrote it. I was curious about who he was hiding from. Was he the captain? What kinda of mission did he have to complete? The next one was more than scary.

My body aches. I managed to escape them. I woke up in a darken room a week ago. There were tubes in my arms. I saw them pumping fluids into me. I swear one of them bit me. My mind was foggy. I needed to find shelter soon. It was going to rain. My stomach growled. First I would hunt then find somewhere to sleep. Odd I couldn't remember anything before the barn fire that happened. Maybe I hit my head really hard. Wait, the fire was real! No! My sweet Catherine, my wife, died. I let out a sob. I'm so sorry my love. I swore to protect you and I failed. I am not the man you believed me to be. A dull pain exploded along my gums. I traced my teeth with my tongue and felt two very sharp ones. This isn't real. I closed my eyes praying this would end.

I felt sorry for this fellow. His wife died in a fire. It seemed like he had been tortured by someone. What was shocking was he said he felt two sharp teeth in his mouth. A realization hit me. It couldn't be. He was a vampire! I thought they were fake. Only portrayed in books and movies.

I showed Colin the entry and he just nodded. He got up and left. He texted me goodbye and said soon everything would make sense. I was beyond confused. What was going on? What did these journals have to do with me? I walked upstairs and took a nap. The forest nightmare greeted me.

The man stood in front of me wearing a dark cloak. He raised my arms over my head and tied them to a low hanging branch. I tried to scream but nothing came out. I heard footsteps. A woman in a lavender ball gown was sprinting down the trail. I tried to scream again. I failed yet again. The woman kept running. The man cackled. I opened my mouth and screamed bloody murder. The woman heard me. She stopped and turned around. Maybe she could rescue me from this monster.
