I can't believe my ears as I look up at my captor. "What. Do. You. Want?!" I seethed. My eyes narrowed as I bared my canines at the man who just threatened the other man named Braxon. "Why am I here?!" I watched through narrowed eyes as he walks over to stand in front of me before squatting, so that he is at eye level with me. He gives me a lop-sided grin before standing back up, putting his hands behind his back. "I have lived here" he motions with both hands to the room we're in. "for all my life, and I'm tired of this place." His once playful grin turns into a frown and his eyes turn cold. "You're here as leverage, so I can get the money I need for the house I want." I gasp as he turns around and walks out of the room.
During the time he was gone I was either trying to get free, silently staring at the wall, glaring at Braxon, who in return was smirking at me, or sleeping, although not much, because it's hard to sleep in a chair with a massive headache, your legs and arms bound, and a creepy guy staring at you. After a while the door finally opened and I sat there, expecting to see my kidnapper, but instead I watched as a small, petite woman walked in with a tray of food. My stomach growled as soon as I smelled the food, making me realize how hungry I was. She walked up cautiously and placed the tray down on a small, wooden table I hadn't realized was there. "M-Mr. Parkinson told me to b-bri-ing food t-to you-u" she stuttered in a whisper.
I tilted my head to the side, slightly narrowing my eyes. "Why are you afraid? Does he harm you?" Her eyes widened as her face paled. "N-no! Not at all!" She said a bit too loud and quick. I curled my lip in disgust. "Where?" I growled. She began to shake uncontrollably. "Nowhere. I-I prom-mise. I must g-go now." She took a deep breath, then let it out, calming quickly before smiling. "Please eat." Then she hurried off. I sighed before looking at the tray she brought in. On it was a hamburger, fries, some fruit and tea. I tried to fight against my hunger. "It could be poisoned." I said to myself. "He said he needed you alive." My stomach argued back. "That doesn't mean the poison could weaken me." I growled, letting my hunger get the best of me. I went to grab the hamburger, but my arms wouldn't move. "I'm an idiot, how the hell am I going to eat with my arms tied?" I huffed. "Let me help you with that." I heard Braxon say.
I looked up at him, curling my lips slightly as he picked up the burger and held it in front of my mouth. After a moment of me not moving, only glaring at him in disgust, he sighed and put it back on the tray. "What? Suddenly not hungry anymore?" I rolled my eyes. "I'm not being fed by you." I growled at him. He chuckled, before pulling out a knife. "Oh, you'll eat." My eyes widened as he walked up to me, then he quickly switched directions and went behind me. I felt as the hold on my wrists loosened and sighed. "You thought I was going to hurt you, didn't you?" He asked from behind me with a chuckle. I ignored his question and reached out, grabbing the hamburger and biting into it with a sigh. He chuckled again before going back to his spot, watching me warily. I finished off my burger before taking a sip of the sweet tea and started on my fries. After my fries were gone I ate my fruit.
"How do you eat so much, but stay so fit and skinny?" Braxon asked me. I looked up at him with a smirk. "High metabolism. Also I don't normally eat this much, I'm just hungry because I haven't eaten since breakfast." He chuckled. "Well miss, you've been here longer than since breakfast." I felt my jaw drop as my eyes widened. "How long have I been here?" I asked my heart rate increasing. I took deep breaths to calm it. "Oh... about two days." He says, as if it's nothing. I shook my head. "Why me?" I whimpered. His eyes soften before hardening again. "Like Derek said, we're tired of living here, and your family has enough money to share." "So that's his name." I thought to myself as I took a shaky breath, closing my eyes. I heard the door open, but decided against opening my eyes, hoping it wasn't Derek, and that it was my parents or my brother. "Is she asleep?" I lost hope as soon as I heard that voice. It was Derek.
"I don't think so, she just closed her eyes after eating." Braxon answered quietly. I could feel footsteps underneath my feet as someone got closer to me, then I felt someone's breath on my face. "Wake up, Caroline." I curled my lip slightly before opening my eyes. "What do you want?" I growled. He grinned at me. "It's time to call your parents." I pressed my lips together, my eyes narrowing as he cut the ropes holding my legs to the chair, then grabbed my arms and forced me up, wrapping an arm around my waist and pulling me to the door.
