DAWN

Some might pity my existence, deem it miserable and insignificant. Only the seekers know that I am here. It easily could have been me. But it was my sister.

Twins were a rare case now, and situations like my own were more so, even thought mythical to some. When born, the egg we came from split. Most would think this would be normal. Two bodies, two souls. In my mother, who I will never know, the soul split, but the bodies didn't. So now, my sister lives in her body, going about her life. I, a bodiless soul, am bound to her because the other half of my soul is inside of her.

I loved my sister. Her world was my world. She didn't know it. But I loved her just the same. It was hard not to fantasize what could have been. The hope thrives inside me however that one day, she might develop seeking eyes. She would see me, interact with me. I would never ask her to do the unthinkable. To me it was never even an option.

It was good that Fae had me. Souls escaping from one body to the next would prey on her. Even though they were all 17 or 18 like Fae, she was enviable. Fae couldn't see the souls who had come after her. They wanted to be her. Even just for a little while. I stood guard though. No one had ever gotten through me to my sister. No one had ever replaced her soul.

Security runs high. New forces developed with the sciences of the souls. Because with the knowledge and ability to separate your soul from your body, came great danger. Chaos broke out when people invaded presidency. There were all kinds if complications when too many entered a body at one time. It was tragic, but without tragedy, we can never learn.

You see, the business about souls is quite complicated. There are several rules and procedures you must follow to prevent the worst from happening. That is why homes must be secure, and people must live with their own age group. These measures are taken to keep peace and safety instilled in society. But the world we live in is far from safe.
