I picked up my black leather biker jacket and hauled it on quickly. I carelessly slung my partially shredded backpack over my shoulders and grabbed the sharp bloody blade which rested on the floor. I faced the door ready to pounce at whatever was coming my way.
*BANG BANG BANG*
The loud banging was followed by lazy and hungry groans which echoed off the walls, knifing the air. They pounded heavily, there was a lot of them, I couldn't take on that many alone...could I ? No, it wasn't worth the risk but I had no escape.
"Think , think" I whispered to myself as I panicked and struggled to find a way out of the life or death situation.
"Crap" I stuck my head out the rusted opened window and looked down, 4 stories high, god I wish I stayed on the first floor. There was a small ledge underneath my window that ran along to another room.
*BANG BANG BANG*
I could hear the door slowly coming off it's hinges and breaking. It's now or never I thought and I shoved my right leg carefully out the window making sure to not miss the ledge. Then my head , and the rest of my body followed.
*BANG BANG BANG*
the door flung open and they all came scurrying into the room, dark maroon blood dripping from their mouths and scars stretched over every inch of their pale, grey, dead skin.
"AH" I screamed as one managed to grab me. I lifted my left hand and shoved the deadly blade right into its skull, blood oozing out as I did so. The monster leant out of the window and fell. The body collided with the stone hard pavement and made a loud cracking noise as all its bones broke at once.
"God" I breathed and hurriedly shuffled along the ledge grabbing on to each brick on the wall before any more could get me. I tried my best to not misplace my stepping or it would be game over just like that and these past few months would all be for nothing.
"Phew" I panted as I reached the next window safely and dragged my body inside.
"Who are you!? Don't move!" I gazed up to see a revolver pointed at my head, held by a frail boy who was shaking nervously.
"Look I'm -" I started to raise to my feet, bruised hands in the air.
"Move again and I'll blow your god damned head off" he threatened , he sounded stern but didn't look it at all.
"I don't have time for this" I rolled my eyes and stole the gun from his weak grip. He stumbled back with fear.
"I should shoot you for threatening me" I furrowed my eyebrows at him whilst slipping the gun into my belt securely.
"I'm sorry I-" He trembled, looping his bony fingers together.
"It's okay , I'm not going to hurt you, but I do need some food" I exclaimed whilst searching around the room.
"O-okay" he replied cautiously.
I picked up a picture of a family , the glass was cracked and the wooden frame was breaking. It was of the boy and maybe his family?
"Flores?" I read the signature at the bottom and turned to him.
"T-that's my surname he stuttered and that's my family ... please don't take that" he stuttered and I placed it back where it was.
"So what's your first name?" I questioned him.
"Nathan..."
"Nathan Flores huh?" I glimpsed at him, his dark chestnut hair almost covering his coffee coloured eyes completely and his tanned skin damaged.
"Look, you shouldn't be here ... my older brother will be back soon and he , unlike me, won't be afraid to shoot your guts out" his eyes widened at the thought.
"Lovely" I commented sarcastically "I was on my way out anyway" I snatched up an unopened cheese sandwich from the desk with the photo, "thanks" I grinned back at him as I opened the door and left.
