Chapter 2 - crowded

“Alright class! I know you all are very energetic this early in the morning!” Mr. Smith spoke cheerfully and was met by groans from the few people who were actually awake, me being one of them.

“As you know, we've had some new admissions this year and so to accommodate them and also shake things up a bit” he said while doing a little dance. God! Did he have to be this energetic this early in the morning! “We have decided to shuffle the students in all the sections of the seniors, which means, you might get other kids here or you might be going to a different class! I'll now be reading out the names of the people who will be in this class after this.” He continued

“Abdul Basit

Abby Jones

Adam Reynolds

Anna Smith

…..”

Adam was still here. Now if I just get sent to another section, it'll all be great

“Emily Gray

Gabby Williams

Hadeed Sheikh

Huda Sheikh

…”

Great! I'm still here! Of course, I can't get away from Adam. Ooh Hadeed and Huda, new people! Muslim too! Cool, atleast there'll be someone interesting here this year. I hope Liza gets shifted here too.

“Kaycee Mike

Liza Green

..”

Oh god! Yessss!! Finally we will be able to come to our class together. She'll be so happy to hear this.

“Melissa Brown

Miley Jones

Nathan Campbell

…”

This had to be a joke!! Nathan AND Melissa had to be shifted here! Dealing with either one of them at a time would've been bad enough but now I'll have to get over my broken heart by seeing Nathan stare all lovey eyed at Melissa all day. Great! And to add to that, ok also have Adam to annoyed me further if there's any room left for it.  This class is going to be crowded

There was no point in listening to the list any further, it couldn't get any worse after this, so I put my head on the desk and slept out the rest of the period….. or so I would've liked to. But soon enough there was a shadow covering my face. I opened my eyes to deep soft brown ones staring back at me. Adam again! He couldn't leave me alone for 5 minutes! I was about  to shout at him when I realised Adam's eyes weren't really this soft nor did he have such long eyelashes and I knew for a fact that he didn't wear eyeliner, at least, not now. Realising it was someone else, I jerked back and looked at the person from a distance where I could see more of their face than just their eyes.

It was a girl. She had a gorgeous heart shaped face with big brown eyes and small pouty lips. She had no makeup on and all I could think of was, her skin, was flawless. She was wearing a blue and white printed scarf tied around her head, hiding her hair and neck and a loose blue cardigan. I assumed she was one of those new Muslim students. I remember hearing Huda was a girls’ name, so I suppose this would be Huda Sheikh. “ Hi, I'm Huda Sheikh “ yup, Huda it is.

“Hey! I'm Emma” I replied as nicely as I could with the mood I was in at that moment

“There seem to be no other empty seats, so may I sit with you, if you don't have anyone else already sitting there?” She asked

“Oh no! You can totally sit! I'm a loner anyway, I don't have anyone sitting with me” I joked

She laughed a soft, adorable laugh and sat down, making sure not to disturb me or my stuff kept in the desk. I already liked this girl, she had an adorable smile and was polite, something you have problems finding in high school.

Looking at Huda, I saw Nathan in my peripheral vision, sitting with Adam, y'know best friends and stuff, which reminds me! Liza!! Oh shit! I messed up. Where is she gonna sit! As soon as I thought if this, I saw Liza coming to my seat, looking not too happy. She came and stood behind Huda, who hadn't noticed her yet and glared at me as if planning my death already.

“I forgot you had been sent to this class too!" I exclaimed.

“Oh right, well, where do I sit now!” She cried, already annoyed.

At this Huda turned to look at Liza and I introduced them, making sure to mention Liza was my bestfriend or she would kill me.

“Oh! If your best friend is here, you should sit with her! I'll find a seat somewhere else.”

“No no, it's fine, it's not your fault” Liza said, being her usual sacrificing self, “I'll just find a seat somewhere else.

“Oh no! It's alright! Really. I'll go sit with my brother then, he seems to be sitting alone anyways.” Huda said and got up from the seat, collecting her bag and books and made her way to the next row where a guy whose back was towards me seemed to be sitting alone, conversing with Adam in the row further on.

“So” Liza started, turning my attention from the guy back to her, I still didn't see his face tough, which made me really curious. “What happened yesterday morning.”
