Manal's mother was an Austrian she lived there all her life as an orphan in an orphanage until she got married to Manal's father, Musannad Mahmoud left for Austria from Nigeria for his masters and Bachelors degree in Business.
They both got married in Austria and didn't get married with anyone's consent or blessing. Muhibba really loved him so much so she didnt think twice about getting married to him she trusted him and he did too, or is it what she thought?.
They got back to Nigeria after they got married. They both lived with his mum under the same roof. It sure wasn't a nice time staying with them. She thought she will finally be happy and get her happily after and it turned out to be other wise. Her mother in-law wasn't what she pictured to be. She never accepted her as a part of the family. She always will insult her call her names like, outcast, fatherless child or, good for nothing. She learnt how to speak Fulani and Hausa from her as those were the languages she forces her to speak to her in.
From insults it gradually turned to beatings. All that happened she never told her husband about it she thought she will make matter worse for him. He never even noticed changes around him he never even noticed his wife or her pains or anything, it's true she was very good with hiding her pains and worries but a husband is supposed to see through his wife right?.
Musannad was always away if he wasn't on business trips then it will be on project work and if not that he was never at home to God knows where.
Musannad never gives attention to his wife you know, the kind of attention a husband is supposed to give his wife? He never does that,he slowly stated to drift away from her.
She always wondered what she did to deserve this treatment, she would ask him,'Tell me what did I do to you? What am I even to you now?. And he will always reply with a, 'I am busy right now so go and I am not in the mood for you none sense.
Years past and things got worst for Muhibba from her mother in-law and now also her husband. It was as if he was Possessed into another person because it wasn't the person she had agreed to marry. He also started with the assault too he would insult her and tell her that she was worthless and a poor excuse for a lady and a wife and he regrets marrying her.
She would act as if nothing had happened and go behind close doors and cry her heart out she would think about what would her life would be if she had at least had a mother a person she could talk about her problems too or at least a shoulder she could cry on.
But in no way was that possible not even her husband was with her in this.
Two years pasted and Mussanad finally agreed to get intimate with her and get him self a child or as he would like to call it,"an Heir".
She agreed to that and thought maybe she would now make up for what she "thought" she did and make him happy.
She gave birth to a bouncing baby boy who she named Hammad, since even his father wasn't even around for his naming ceremony she named him her self.
5 years later everything went right for her she finally got the husband she wanted a full attention Husband but didnt still get one thing, a perfect mother in-law.
She was still the same plain Jane she met in Nigeria still assaultive and insultive.
Her life came crumbling down one night when Musannad came back very late that day and she hadnt slept she awaited her husband's arrival.
She waited for him as she pats her son who was laying down beside her in her room.
She heard heard sounds of things crashing its seems like they were breaking stuffs and so she sprinted out of her room.
