Stumbling back, Ayla put her hands on the boy's shoulders. "Jack, what's the matter" her voice filled with concern. Mark watched silently as Jack continued to cling onto Ayla. "I-I t-thought you left". His voice came out slowly, sending a shiver down Mark's spine. "No, you know I don't leave school when your here". I had to show Mark around the school, he's new here. She motioned to Mark. Jack turned and looked straight at Mark for a moment. Then he looked back at Ayla "I don't like him, he's going to be mean just like everyone else" He stated, with a very obvious Irish accent. "Jack that was rude" Ayla had a shocked face. But she just received a shrug from Jack, as he turned around walking away and dragging Ayla with him. Leaving Mark standing their not having the slightest clue of were to go.
As the day progressed, Mark noticed that the two colorful-haired people were rarely seen apart. This confused Mark, everyone else he had met that day seemed just as nice as they. That is until he overheard a conversation in one of his classes that actually scared him. "that fag needs to stop acting like the fucking world is ending". One of the guys in the class said, not realizing that Mark could hear every word of their conversation. "Yea, maybe we should give him something to be afraid of, and kick his sorry ass" said a taller guy. "Maybe we could beat the fag-ness out of his scrawny little anorexic body!" chimed in a blonde. "Yea Kyle, leave a note inside of Jack's locker and tell him to meet you outside after school". The original guy to speak said. "why me?" Kyle groaned. "Because you know very well Jack had a crush on you since he started hanging out with your adopted sister Ayla" the guy snapped. This ended the conversation. Mark had pretended not to hear, but he followed every word the group said, and he was terrified.
The bell rang and Mark casually walked out of the classroom as if nothing happened. He scanned the hallways for any sign of Jack or Ayla, but he didn't see either of them. He started to panic as he got his books ready for the last period of the day. A million thoughts ran through his mind. He needed to warn Jack. After dropping off his things in the classroom, he headed to the restroom to try and calm down by splashing some cold water on his face. As he entered the bathroom, he heard someone talking to themselves. Mark instantly recognized the accent "Jack!'' he called softly, not to startle Jack. The talking instantly stopped and Mark looked at the stalls, finding only one closed. "Jack it's okay, it's me, Mark". "Go away" the green-haired boy said, his voiced cracked in the middle of his sentence. "I really need to talk to you....it's important". He watched as the stall started to open until he saw jack's beautiful blue eyes. Just as Mark was about to speak, the bathroom opened and Kyle walked in seeing the two of them. Mark looked at Jack and he quickly disappeared into the stall. Kyle pulled out his phone and leaned against the wall, just staying there. Mark had lost his opportunity to talk to Jack, so he left the bathroom. Maybe things wouldn't go the way they had said it would. They could have just been bluffing.
But they weren't. The note was left in Jack's locker, and after school he headed to the spot to were they said to meet. Once he arrived at the location, he instantly regretted trusting that note. He was quickly surrounded by Kyle, the two other boys, and the blonde guy. They cut him off from any form of escape. He was going to be dead, and he knew it. It came all at once, the pain, it came from every side, every angle, and it wasn't going to stop. All Jack could do was protect his stomach and head by curling into a ball, but the attackers were not making it easy. They intended to do some serious damage, and they did. After all was said and done, after the last punch was thrown, the last kick was given. The last venomous was spit. The attackers left the broken boy to lie in the dirt.
