Four months later, standing in the freezing rain, Mark watched the ambulance speed off. The lights flashing and sirens blaring their ear-piercing screech. How could he have let this happen? Everything had been completely fine, or at least he thought it was. Jack hadn't seemed unhappy. Mark felt like he had failed, maybe he had.
*One week earlier*
"HURRY UR ARSE UP MARK". Jack yelled up the stairs to Mark's bedroom. He was standing at the bottom all ready to leave for their outing. He was wearing his normal attire, nice fitting black skinny jeans, a pair of converse, some random band shirt that he couldn't remember seeing, and an oversized hoodie.
Soon enough, Mark came walking down the steps, "don't tell me what to do with my ass", he said and grinned at him, only getting an eye-roll in return. Let me talk to my mom." Mark said as he brushed past the other man, "you look good in my hoodie by the way". He added a winked before disappearing into the kitchen".
A few moments later, Mark emerged from the kitchen and held up the car keys, "let's get out of here!"He said and grabbed Jack's hand and pulled him out , into the cool, yet sunny outdoors. He paused and took in the sight of everything, the blue sky that had a few pale puffs of clouds here and there. There were birds flying around, enjoying how free they were. A few children ran around the small neighborhood.
Soon Mark was snapped back into reality when Jack squeezed his hand, "Earth to mark, ye okay?" he tilted his head, as if he were a dog. "I'm completely fine, let's go."
