"Hurry up Marinette or you'll be late to class!" Tikki called. She flew up to Marinette who was busily running around her room trying to get ready for the day.
"I'm trying Tikki!" Marinette said. "It's just that today is the day that I am suppose to ask Adrien out and I don't want to make a fool of myself!"
"I understand Marinette, but if you are late to class again...!" Tikki replied.
"I know, I know," Marinette sighed. "I'll get in trouble and I'll be grounded. Again."
"C'mon!" Tikki flew into Marinette's bag as she ran out of the room.
"Morning dear," Mrs. Dupain-Cheng said to Marinette. "Have a good day at school today!"
"Thanks mom!" Marinette called as she ran out of the door with a pastry in hand. She ran all the way to school. When she got there, Alya was waiting at the entrance.
"There you are girl," Alya said. She walked over to the panting Marinette. "Now, you better get a grip unless you was Adrien to see you like that!"
"Thanks for the advice, Alya," Marinette replied. She sighed, and walked with Alya to their classroom.
"Hey guys!" Adrien said to Marinette and Alya.
"H-hi Adrien," Marinette replied. She waved as Alya pulled her up into her seat.
"Good morning class," Miss Bustier said while walking into the classroom. Shall we begin?"*****
When class ended, Marinette and Alya walked over to the entrance of the school.
"Come on girl! Go ask Adrien out!" Alya said, pointing to the park. There, Adrien and Nino were sitting on a bench and chatting.
Marinette took a deep breath. "Okay, I'll do it." She walked over to the park and stopped. She took another deep breath and then continued to Adrien and Nino.
"I gotta go dude. I'll see you tomorrow!" Nino said and waved. Adrien waved back and watched as his friend walked off.
"Okay, I've got this." Marinette said to herself. She walked up to Adrien, but as she approached him, another girl ran up to him and started to chat with him. Marinette hid behind a bush as she waited for the girl to leave.
"Hi! Your Adrien Agreste, right?" the girl asked him. "Gabriel Agreste's son?"
"Yeah, that's me," Adrien replied.
"My name is Melina. My parents love your father work and so do I. I really wanted to meet you," she sat down next to Adrien, scooting closer to him every second or so. They kept chatting for what Marinette though was forever.
"Did you need something?" Adrien asked Melina after a few minutes.
"Well, yes," she replied. Melina moved so close to Adrien that her hips were touching his. Then she leaned in and said, "I need you."
At that moment, Marinette watched in despair as Melina's and Adrien's lips touched. She could feel a tear run down her cheek as she watched. After a few seconds, Marinette ran out from the bush and out of the park.
"What was that?" Adrien asked, pulling away from Melina.
"Never mind that," she replied, smiling.
Adrien sighed and then picked up his bag. "I have to go," he said as he walked off to his limo.*****
When Marinette reached her room, she dropped her bag and started to cry. Tikki flew out from Marinette's bag and frowned. Marinette only dropped her bag once before when Chloe was bothering her during the attack of Evillustrator, but she couldn't complain to Marinette now.
"I'm so sorry Marinette," Tikki flew up to her shoulder.
"It's not your fault, Tikki. I just didn't know that Adrien already liked someone," Marinette sobbed. She wiped her tear and sighed. She looked at the photos of Adrien everywhere in her room. She sighed again, and then dug her head into her pillow. Tikki flew up to Marinette and layed next to her. There they laid together, both deep in thought until the morning.*****
"Ah, a broken heart," a voice echoed in the dark room. "A perfect victim for my akuma."
The man called for his white butterfly. When it landed in his palm, he covered it up. When he lifted his hand, the white butterfly turned into a purple akuma.
"Fly away, my little akuma, and evilize her!" he called out. The purple butterfly flew out and made its way to the room of Marinette. She and Tikki were too busy to notice the little butterfly flying up to Marinette's earring. The purple butterfly-like mask appeared around Marinette's eyes as she looked up from her thoughts.
"Hello dear," the man said through the purple mask. "My name is Hawkmoth and yours is now Lady Misfortune. Your heart was broken, so I give you the power to get your revenge. You can transform whenever you want and when you are not transformed, you have the power to levitate items and, well, people, if you wish. All I want in return is the miraculous of Ladybug and Cat Noir. Get me the miraculous, and you can have this power for eternity."
Marinette smiled. "Yes, Hawkmoth." She stood up as the black and purple smoke surrounded her. It was time to get revenge on Adrien.
