Ricky's POV

Chris made his way through the sea of guests, his towering frame shoving people mercilessly out of the way. He made his way to a podium at the front, tapping on a mic plugged in. The sound echoed around the hall, making all heads turn to the front.

"Lords, Ladies, and...others, as you all know, tonight is our royal majesty Prince Ricky (HE USED THAT NAME ON PURPOSE, MOTHERFUCKER!)'s 23 birthday. In honor of this event, we would like to give him a gift."

I groaned, and Dusk giggled.

"Do they do this every year, Ricky?" She whispered with a grin.

"Yes, except on a much less grand scale. Supposedly, twenty three is the "coming-of-age" year. Assholes." I replied with a joking grimace.

"Riiiiiiiight." Dusk answered, and we sat back to hear the rest of Chris's speech.

"His father, King Leon III of Korona, is retiring the throne to his son in two months. Happy birthday, Your Highness!"

My. Jaw. Dropped.

"Yay, Ricky, I'm so happy for you!" Dusk said, laying a hand on my arm and smiling. I smiled at her innocence, and wished she'd never, ever go away. I felt way calmer then I ever had in 6 months when she showed up.

Wait...I was the prince-soon-to-be-king, for crying out loud! I could make people do whatever I wanted.

I grinned and said, "Thanks, Dusk. It means a lot." The grin was partly forced though...I could feel that cold fist of fury clouding my thoughts again, mostly towards my father. I was not ready to be supreme ruler yet. Not by a mile.

The enormous clock began to chime, and guests slowly began to trickle out in groups of 2 to 5 people. Dusk stood, and a servant brought her her beautiful layered black fur trimmed cloak. It was tied around her shoulders, and she smiled sweetly at me.

"Well, Ricky, it looks like my evening is over. It was absolutely wonderful to be in your presence all night, I really enjoyed your unbirthday party." She smiled, quoting Alice In Wonderland.

"Thank you, Lady Dusk, I enjoyed it too." I laughed. "Do you mind if I escort you out? I can do what I like around here."

Dusk grinned. "It would be a pleasure, Ricky." She picked up her fan, and I held out my arm. She looped hers through mine, and we walked across the enormous ballroom to the huge gates. I walked her down the steps, and an ebony carriage pulled by beautiful inky black horses was waiting.

I helped her into the carriage, and she did something that left me speechless, goofy, slow, and bright red with an enormous grin. A small kiss was brushed across my pale cheek, and Dusk whispered,

"Thank you Prince Ricky. I had a wonderful time. Thank you." She leaned into the darkness of the coach, and I shut the door. The whip cracked, and it rattled over the cobblestones of the circle drive of the palace. I was left with my hand in the air, frozen in a wave, an enormous smile on my face.

As I trudged up the palace steps, I thought of something.

GENIUS!

BRILLIANT!
