Haley's POV

"Thank you for driving me home" I said and hopped out of the car.
"Yeah, bye. See you." he said and drove away. Why did he say 'See you'? Why should I ever see him again?
I unlocked the door and went upstairs. I knocked on Cathy's door.
"Come in!" she shouted.
"Where were you last night?" I asked.
"I was at Mason's house. I'm sorry, I should've told you."
"No, it's totally okay. Did you tell my mom?"
"Yeah I called her and told her that I would sleep at Mason's house."
"Did you two...?" I asked curiously. She nodded. I smiled and hugged her. I decided not to ask her out about it. She should get some rest.
I entered my room and jumped into bed. I took my phone and checked my social media. New message
Lunch at Wellbee's? - Hannah
In one hour. - Haley
I took a long shower and then blow dried my hair to put it in a messy bun. I put on a white crop top and matched it with blue washed-out and ripped high-waisted shorts. After some time, I decided to layer thin silver chokers and wore my silver Cartier ring. I grabbed my classic old school vans and knocked at Cathy's door.
"I am going to lunch. Do you want something?"
"No, thanks. Have fun!"
My parents were visiting my grand parents so we had the house for ourselves tonight. We weren't sure whether to throw a party or to go clubbing. Clubbing would be way easier.
I left the house and jumped on my bike. I rode all the way to Wellbee's and saw that Hannah had already arrived. After locking my bike outside, I hugged her.
"Hey babe!" she said and we went inside. We sat down in the corner of the restaurant. It wasn't an expensive restaurant but it still had class.
"Uh, hey. What's up?" I said sounding busy. I was busy with the menu card.

After some time we ordered our food. Hannah told me something about her theater play in school and how she auditioned for the main role. While she talked, I looked around the restaurant. Someone decided to sit down next to our table. It took me some time but I recognized that it was Jason. I pretended to ignore him and he rolled his eyes and tapped me on my shoulder.
"Yes?" I asked innocently.
"Don't pretend that you don't know me." he said and sounded dead serious. I saw that Hannah was quite
"I don't know what you are talking about." I didn't quite understand what he wanted.
"Oh so that is the thanks for me protecting you?" he sounded cold. He clenched his jaw and his eyes looked dead. Maybe he overreacted but I saw that he wore a bandage around his shoulder.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have-"
"I don't fucking care." he interrupted me. He behaved really childish. The waitress arrived with our food and I thanked her.
"Oh, so she gets a 'thank you'..." he whispered. He sounded pretty sad. What's up this bipolar kid?
Hannah continued talking about school stuff. I loved her for not wanting an explanation about Jason and his awkward behavior. She had to leave earlier because she had to pick up her little sister from kindergarten but she left her money. I called the waitress and paid the food. I was about to leave but I decided to stay. Jason was calling the whole time he had been in the restaurant. He noticed that I wanted to talk to him so he hung up.
"Hey, um, I'm sorry for being rude." I didn't want any enemies.
"I shouldn't have protected you." he hissed.
"What the fuck is wrong with you, Jason." he drove me crazy. No one asked him to take care of me.
"Shut up, bitch" he shouted. Everyone pretended not to hear him shouting but secretly they all listened to him.
"Who do you think you are? Don't dare to speak to me like that!" he spat. I wasn't interested in this kind of bullshit, so I took my bag and left the place. I walked to my bike and unlocked it. Before hopping on, someone took my hand.
I turned around. It was Jason. He stared at the ground. I smiled. I squeezed his hand and kissed him in the cheek. Then I hopped on the bike and rode away. Why did I do that? I owed him nothing. Well he took a bullet for me. I kinda owed him more than that. Kissing his cheek was totally unnecessary and inappropriate. But he is cute. No he is not. He is hot. His darke blonde hair and his jawline. His muscular arms and his shades. Damn.

Jason's POV

"Who do you think you are? Don't dare to speak to me like that!" I spat. She's hella dumb. And way too naive. She should have ran away screaming the moment somebody shot at the car. But she stayed. She helped Nick with the medical stuff and she watched over me. Does she want me to rape her or what. Who sleeps in the room of a stranger? In a chair? Idiot. She is so dumb that it hurts.
She took her bag and left.
In the other hand, it was kind of nice of her. I decided to follow her. She was bending over to unlock her bike. Damn.
She was about to ride away when I grabbed her hand. She turned around but I looked at the ground. It was kind of embarrassing. Why did I take her hand. That's disgusting. And since when am I shy? What the fuck?
Suddenly she lifted my chin with her thumb and kissed me on the cheek. Before I could say anything, she was gone. And she left me speechless.
