After getting everything straight, Kirova decided they needed to start school right away. Vasila was given a new schedule and so was Rose. I guess it was kinda cruel to send them right to class minutes after their arrival. Oh well, i thought. Alberta and me were supposed to escort Rose to her first period class, so i had to wait outside the counciling office so Rose could get her schedule. When she came out we didnt say anything, Alberta and me just started walking toward her first class. I guess it was kinda weird that we were escorting her to her class since there was no danger. When we entered the gym everyone shut up. They were all staring at Rose. They all showed different emotions. Happyness. Jelousy. And a whole bunch of other emotions. I looked at Rose to see what she was doing. I could see that she was looking for familiar friendly faces. I saw that one caught her ete, so i turned to see who it was. Great. A guy. And not just a guy, it was Mason Ashford, one of the best novices. Hell, he was the best. " Hey Mason, wipe the drool off your face. If you're going to think about me naked, do it on youy own time." Just what i needed, Rose being the kind of girl who likes to flirt. It sure was going to be hard to keep her consentrated in school than guys. I herd a few snicker, and some laughter. " This is my time Hathaway, im leading todays session." I herd the Ashford kid say. Did he sereously have to play along ? I mean, shes just a girl. " Oh yeah ? Huh. Well, i guess this is a good time to think about me naked, then." Did she just say that ? " Its always a good time to think about you naked." Was that Eddie Castile? That kid is always quiet. I guess i girl can make a guy do something they never have. I looked back at Rose and she looked pleased. With a little shake of my head, i moved to the back of the class. For the rest of the period, i watched as Mason beat the crap out of Rose. He wasnt even going easy on her. The weird thing was, she didnt look pissed, she looked, glad ? This is such a strange girl. When class started, Rose and Mason started talking, i tried to hear what they were saying but they were to far away. I saw them glance at my direction, so i quickly turned away. Were they talking about me ? What could they be saying ? I decided to forget about it, i was probably imagenig things. Her next class was Stans class. So i quickly walked out of the gym and walked to her next class. I took my normal spot in the back. I saw kids come and go. Everybody was ready to start class, but Rose wasnt here yet. I looked at the clock, it was seconds from ringing. And thats when Rose walked in. She didnt look at anyone, she just sat down. Thats when Stans decided that he wanted to bully another kid. He had to choose Rose. He walks to the chair she was sitting and purposly speaks loud enogh for the whole classroom to hear." Whats this ? No one told me we had a guest speaker today. Rose Hathaway. What a privilage ! How very generous of you to tKe time of your busy schedule and share your knowledge with us." Said Stans. Ive never really liked him, but know i was starting to hate him." Well, come on, come on. Dont sit there! Come up to the front so you can help me lecture the class." said Stans." You dont really mean-" Started to say Rose but was cut off by Stans." I mean exactly what i say, Hathaway. Go to the front of the class." He said with a taunting smile. I really hated that guy. I looked at Rose, i thought she was going to act embarresed or shy. Instead she had her guardian face again. She was really good at hiding her emotions. " So Hathaway, enlighten us about your protective techniques." Said Stans. I looked at Rose, and i saw the same expression but somwhere in her eyes i saw confusion. "My.....Techniques ?" Said Rose. " Ofcurse . Because presumably you must have had some sort of plan the rest of us couldnt understand when you took an underage moroi royal out of the academy and exposed to many constant strigoi threats." Said Stans." We never ran into any strigois." Said Rose. Then Stans had to act like a smart ass." Obviously, i already figured that out, seeing as how you're still alive." Said Stans. I looked at Rose but she never said anything. She just stared at him with a blank expression. And as if on que, Stans continued."So what'd you do? How'd you make sure she stayed safe? Did you avoid going out at night?" I really wanted to know as well. But all Rose said was," Sometimes." I was disappointed by her answer, but i could tell that Stans was hoping she said that. " Sometimes. Well then, i supposed you slept during the day and stayed on guard at night." Said Stans." Er.....no." Said Rose." No? But thats one of the first things mentioned in the chapter on solo guarding. Ou wait, you wouldnt know that because you werent here." said Stans mockingly." I watched the area whenever we went out." Said Rose trying to defend herself.
