'' Wow, '' I whispered, staring at the cake that the woman with white hair and red eyes, the one that hugged Waru on the street in Ryu Shoto, placed on the table. I was really shocked when I heard that told me that she is his grandmother, I didn't really understand why didn't she seem to hate him or fear him considering that Waru said that he murdered his family, which was also her family. But before I could ask too much questions she grabbed us both and dragged us down the street, saying that we were going to go to her house where it was safer. That was another thing that surprised me. Locals weren't supposed to be interested in violence, they weren't even thinking about it, but this woman seemed to know what could happen if all the people that were surrounding us would find out who Waru was. I was also curious about her, so I decided to follow her with Waru.

She guided us away from Ryu Shoto, taking quick steps down a road that went through a forest. Then we passed two bridges and finally stopped on a small island. I had to admit, the woman had a really pretty home, it looked exactly like the ones that I heard of and read in books. It was supposed to be called a farm, something that people in villages lived in, which didn't exist in Japan anymore. I didn't know about the rest of the world, but Japan was already too crowded, apparently the population was growing faster and faster and it was really becoming a problem. At least that was how it was before I left, but I didn't think that after 50.000 people disappeared much changed.

The island Waru's grandmother, Asuka, lived on was small, with a green meadow, covered with different flowers, surrounding her farm and a forest on one side. The farm that was placed in the middle had two different buildings, one was for her, while in the other one was for her animals. I was too creeped out when I remembered how the animals were in this level and after hearing what Asuka had I didn't even want to see it with my eyes. I was pretty sure that five cows in the size of dogs and abnormally large hen, pigs and goats would scar me for life. And I didn't even want to imagine how did the eggs that Asuka's huge hen laid look like. Maybe like there were the ones of a dinosaur.

After we came closer to Asuka's house she guided us to a wooden table, with a bench on each side that was placed in the shade of some kind of big tree that just had blooming purple flowers on it. I kept suspiciously staring at it's top all the time after I noticed that because I knew that it should be full of bugs and I really didn't want to have a giant caterpillar falling down on me. Then Asuka that disappeared in the house for a few moments returned with a tray with a full cake on it and some home made lemonade. I instantly turned away from the tree and looked at the cake that she was cutting with amazement in my eyes.

'' Wow, '' I whispered again. '' Can I have the first slice? ''

'' No, the first slice is for my Shoei, '' Asuka snapped and narrowed her eyes.

My eyes flashed to Waru for a moment, seeing how he flinched when she pronounced that name, then I went back to gazing to the cake. How couldn't I, I mean, it had three different types of sponge cakes and maraschino cream inside. When I finally got a plate with a slice I quickly started eating it while Asuka sat down on the bench that was on the opposite table and began gazing between Waru and I.

'' What? '' I asked after a few moments when I realized that Waru wasn't going to say anything. Maybe he just needed some time to collect himself again, considering that he was just sitting next to me, silent, staring somewhere in to distance.

'' I didn't ask you anything. ''

My eye twitched with annoyance at the tone of voice that the woman used with me. '' Look, I know that you're Waru's grandmother, an elder and everything, but right now the only reason why I didn't say anything mean back is because your cake is delicious. But once I finish eating it you better watch how you're talking, I don't have a really good patience. ''
