It was late Friday night and I was walking home from my part time Job. They had a leaving party for one of the employees there and I was required to stay. It was a weekend so I didn't really mind since school wasn't in the way. I took the same route through the walking pass to the same bus station home everyday. Being late or early_what of it.

Its not like there was someone there to welcome me home. I've lived alone ever since I was abandoned by my father 4 years ago. I was 13 then, life was hard...actually life is hard but I'll make it through some how I always do anyways. I'm all healthy except for a little problem. My body produces too much blood, its not as serious as most of the cases I've heard of, so the only thing thats required of me is to donate blood regularly.

I was 10 minutes away from my house when I heard the faint wheezing of someone in the near by alley. 'Keep walking' I told myself 'It doesn't concern you' I tried to convince myself but my body wouldn't listen to me. 'Whats the worse that could happen am I right? Vampires were real but the chances of bumping into one is close to 0 and the area I was passing wasn't really dangerous. Sure there were murder cases and a few robberies here and there but nothing too serious said no-one ever.

As I approached the entrance I saw blood. That should have been a warning sign but still I pushed on. Going further away from the entrance a body laying on the ground came into view, I walked up cautiously and noticed a pipe from the construction area seemed to have fallen down and had penetrated the stomach of the person before me. He wasn't dead that's a good thing. I did what any 19 year old would do in a moment like this. I panicked.

I dropped my bag to the ground and fumbled around to try and find my phone.

"Um I-I-I um g-g-g-give m-me  a s-s-s-second I-I-I-I am dialing the a-a-a-am-b-b-bulance." I tried to say, but my words became jumbled and through my attempt at calling the ambulance the phone fell from my hands and then the screen went blank.

My heart sank.

"oh no no no no no no no!" Then water works had began. Yes I started crying.

All through my "episode" the guy laid there looking at me dumbfounded, with a 'Wtf' look on his face.

"Could you shut up for a minute your making things worse" He said as he held unto the pipe and bean to pull on it. The blood drained from my face as I watched and my body went cold.

"At least try to be useful and help me pull idiot."

I calmed down and regained my senses.

"Your gonna die if you pull it, let me call the ambulance first."

"I saw you trying. And may I ask how that worked out for you?"

"Well I'm sorry for trying to help your dying ass, I'll just wipe my tears and be on my way then."

"Look. Kid. I don't have the strength to argue I haven't eat in days so I'm not-"

He began to cough vigorously, coughing up blood in the process.

"Help me pull." He said again.

I surrendered and hesitantly held onto the pipe and together we pulled it. I close my eyes pulling with all my strength when finally I had succeeded. (AN. If you've been stabbed by any object, don't remove it from the wound it will cause it bleed more. Have it removed by a doctor.)

His body slumped forwards, the clouds moved away from the moon giving us extra light and during that moment my eyes widened. He had wings. One seemed to have been broken. A vampire I thought to myself.

Instinctively I stepped back, but even then he didn't make an effort to move.

"Are you going to run away now. Now that you've realized for yourself what I am?" He asked

I remained silent.

He Struggled to get up but he did, and by using the wall as support he made his way from me. Making his way towards from whence I came, leaving bloody foot prints behind.

"Please. Your gonna die." I finally found the courage to speak.

"Vampires don't die so easily. Go home kid. You've helped enough."

"But I-"

"Leave, before." He stopped himself from speaking and continued towards the exit.

I took up my broken phone and bag from the ground and followed behind him. I took off my jacket and placed it over his back covering his wings. He stumbled forwards so I grabbed him before he fell.

And that my friend is how I invited a vampire in my house. Hey I wasn't always the smartest of the bunch.

Arriving home I opened the front door and lead him inside. I placed him at the entrance and then proceeded to strip him er I mean clean him.

I rushed towards the bathroom, grabbed a basin with warm water and a rag to clean him up and bandage his wound.

I removed the bloody shirt, wiped him down and took a closer look, upon my inspection the wound had already began to close up but it still looked really bad. Bless the days i'd had read those medical and veterinarian books. I bandaged the wound up the best I could and also did the best I could to his broken wing. Looking at him he looked very pale and sick, he started breathing heavy again.

"Give me..." He began to talk but then stopped himself. "forget it" He continued.

I picked up right away what he needed. After all he is a vampire.

I held my hand before his mouth but he turned his head away rejecting my offering. I was worried because I didn't know what else to do, but then I got an idea. I got up and ran towards the kitchen and grabbed a knife, then made my way back to him.

"Lets try this again ok." I said.

I made a small wound in the palm of my hand and held it at his mouth. His eyes opened and then he sunk his teeth in. Painful at first but the pain subsided. This was the first time I was ever happy that I had Polycythemia vera (PV). But despite that I was suddenly over come by tiredness. My body felt heavy and sluggish. I was use to giving up blood but not his much had been taken before. He kept drinking and drinking without the slightest hint of stopping, and slowly I began to loose consciousness.
