"NO! (Y/N)! COME BACK RIGHT NOW YOUNG LADY!" Erza bellowed at the top of her lungs, a scowl on her pretty features. The deep green kelp shook along with her shout, reflecting the clear light into another direction.
I sniggered behind the brown algae-covered rock, watching her metallic tail swish irritably.
You may ask, why in the name of baby beluga whales would you steal Erza Scarlet's most prized possesion?
Well, unless you get a kick out of the weird stares the screaming mermaid gets, then it's understandable.
And... unless you were me, of course.
My (s/c) hands were tightly wrapped around the narhwals horn, but not too tightly that it would break. Erza's hair floated dangerously in the water, expression matching with her hands pulled into fists.
"I know you're here (y/n)," she growled, other merpeople soon having departed in a rush. "Give it back right now. Or else I'll convince grandfather to postpone your coming of age ceremony."
I gasped inaudibly in fake mockery, knowing there was nothing my big sister could do against my free will.
"Catch me if you can!"
I rocketed up from the boulder into the air, my tail flicking back and forth in short snaps, heading straight to the open archway of our shared bedroom ahead. The palace gleamed back as if trying to say, 'hurry up!'.
"COME BACK HERE!"
Erza sped after me, going into the same position upwards. I look back, caught in the complete bliss of being chased, my hair flying wildly behind me.
She wasn't catching up to me; thank god. My sister may be stronger and more of a fighter, but my speed tended to be a bit faster than hers.
I shot into the open room at the highest tower, and the first thing I notice is my other sister gently sitting on her bed.
"Mira!" I cry, innocence dripping from my voice. "Erza is chasing me and I'm scared!"
Making sure that the horn was slipped up and secured by the band of my shell bra, so Mira didn't see my physical guiltiness.
The white-ette looked up with that blinding smile of hers, stopping temporarily with braiding Evergreen's hair. "Oh (y/n). How did you provoke her this time?"
I had expected that response, and pouted, puckering out my (l/c) bottom lip. "Onee-chan... Erzy is overreacting again... She won't ever play with me because of all of her royal duties and whatnot..."
Evergreen snorted, and I send her a look so quick that even the She Devil couldn't catch it.
"(Y/N)!"I shriek dramatically at Erza's thundering voice. With a swish of my tail, I was hiding behind Mira's back, fakely quivering so I could include Mira in the game I was playing.
"Give me back my horn," she growled, hair covering one of her eyes, the other eye's pupil small and trained one me. She looked absolutely terrifying in her platinum sleeveless top, reaching just above her navel and matching her tail. I envied the stainless steel.
"I don't know what you're talking about," I say innocently, batting my eyelashes.
"This girl..." the brown-haired mermaid whispered under her breath, rolling her eyes behind her glasses.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," I argue, curling my bottom lip into a pout. "Mira-nee, Erza is on a rampage again! Do something!"
Mira gave me a pointed look, but instead of her taking action, Evergreen stood up instead from the clam bed. She towered over me, looking as scary as Erza with her half-braided hair. "(y/n), could you stop pranking and finally listen to us for a try?!"
I faced her, our tails hitting each other, staring evilly. "Well, if you're so intent on scolding me, you deal with her!" as quick as a sea serpent, I snap the horn out from behind the bands of my bra, push Evergreen towards her so that her back was facing me, and sliding it under hers. I slid it so quietly and carefully she barely felt it.
"It's alright Evergeen," Erza said, laying a hand on her shoulder, not noticing that her precious belonging was now with her. "I can deal with her."
Evergreen snorts. "I know you can."
I smile sweetly. "I'm sorry, but I don't have it," to prove it, I twirl through the water, my (h/c) hair swishing with me.
My elder sister's eyes go wide. "W-wait, what? But I swear you had it!"
"Guess not, maybe you were hallucinating again?" I shrug innocently, voice perfectly smooth, untainted by my lie. "Well, I have to go meet with Master. I'll see you later, good luck with finding you narwhal horn!"
I snicker and swim off out of our room into the wide hallway.
I loved the humongous arches and tall ceiling, made of sapphire coral with imperfect dunks and holes. I've memorized each and everyone through my childhood, not to mention the plenty of ones outside the palace.
There weren't only arches on the ceiling, but the windows of three times my size in length were beautifully curved as well. I could see everything from here- swim down and you'll find the humble homes of the other mermen and merwomen, living peaceful, happy lives.
The occasional flocks of fish and eel passing weren't bad either.
"Master!" I cry, catching sight of my grandfather and hurrying towards him. I give him a bright smile, which he returns hesitantly.
"Master, what's wrong?" I call, noticing his saddened expression. He lowers his head, watching a patch of transparent pink jellyfish pass.
"(y/n), child, I'm afraid I have bad news for you..." Master Makarov murmurs, scratching his white hair. My spine goes stiff, and my head pops questions like bubbles. "It's about your coming of age ceremony..." everything goes blank. "...I'm afraid we'll have to postpone it to the day after tomorrow instead of tonight."
"Why?" I ask, gulping down water as my mind sizzles.
"A storm, child," Master sighs, and I could tell he wasn't happy about it either. "A strong one at that. The sky will be dark, and thunder will strike the water without mercy. You can not go to shore in such dangerous conditions."
"Wh-what?!" I sputter, in complete disagreement. "Gramps, you know how much I want to go. I can't wait anymore."
"(y/n)..." his voice came out dangerous, a sign for me to stop.
"And storms... Gramps, come on. Do you even know me? Danger is my middle name. It would be beautiful to have my ceremony on such a dark night through wild waters-"
"(Y/N)!"
I flinch at the blundering tone, and I shut my big mouth.
"The day after tomorrow, and that's final."
I grimace, leaving without a goodbye.
The day after tomorrow? Is he serious? Why- why can't I choose to do something on my own for the first time in my life? What if I want to go to the upper world when there's a storm going on? Why can't I choose?
i almost forgot to post. oOPS
