"I wonder what's past the horizon..." Jellal whispers, azure locks dancing in the wind. The sunlight cast a gentle glow on his pale skin, adding a touch of honey to his faraway, chocolate eyes.
I hum in agreement, nodding my head dreamily along with him. Wait, what? I snap my self out of my gaze, realizing he was asking a question. I grumble to myself, peeking at him from my peripheral vision to check if he saw me... looking at him. Maybe staring.
The ocean gently washed up repeatedly against the rock he was sitting on. Swish, swish, it beat against my bare stomach, the beginning of my (f/c) tail.
"The world just keeps going," I state simply. It was that simple- you just kept going, unable to reach the horizon.
"You don't..." Jellal turns to me, hesitant. I wait for the rest of his question. "...fall off?"
It took me a minute to register what he said.
I burst out laughing, unable to help myself. A hand went to my mouth to muffle my laughter, and Jellal watches me, slightly amused by my reaction.
"F-fall off?" I giggle, and my heart swells at least three times the size as he himself breaks into a rather rare smile.
"I guess humans are stupid at times, aren't they?" he murmurs, going into his usual philosopher mode.
I gaze at him, boots wet from the sea water, wearing a simple long white t-shirt and black pants. He looked strangely ethereal, looking like he could suddenly grow wings out of his back and form a halo. Even if mermaids are supposed to be the rumored beautiful creatures, Jellal's beauty topped any merman I had ever seen.
"Not all humans," I whisper back.
"Sorry?" the blue-haired man replied. "what was that?"
I shake my head, a smile tickling at the corners of my (l/c) lips. "Nothing. Now, tell me what you're secret is to sneaking out without anyone noticing!"

"Someone dear to me," I reply, my tone even and controlled.
"Someone you're in love with," Kelton corrected, trying to squeeze as much information as possible out of me.
"Someone I'm in love with," I agree, a hint of a grin forming on my lips as the crab scowls. "And something you can not change."
Kelton stares insulted at a rubber duck, before sighing.
"Okay," Kelton smoothes over the topic quickly, voice sleek. "how about we discuss this someplace else... someplace a little less creepy? While we're walking to the great hall to your chambers?"
I wasn't listening.
Mainly because a shadow had casted over my cave, emitting us all in darkness.
Amica squeaks comically, and Kelton completely ignores it, expecting it to be a whale or other large animal. But no; there weren't animals this big and still cast such a shadow here. It must be...
My eyes widen, and I zone out on my grandfather's advisor's formal talk.
As if on autopilot, I swim out of my cave and face the hulking distraction.
It had an oval shape on the surface, floating above. It was made of a dull brown material, grimy barnacles spotting it left and write. I could tell there was much more beyond the sea, and I ached to see it.
Kelton distinctly called 'stop!' and something among the lines of my grandfather.
"What?" I call back, almost at the surface. My (h/c) snaps against my neck, before floating back to the right, following the soft stream of ocean water.
"Did you forget everything that your grandfather told y-"
Boom.
I gasp.
Stars exploded above the water- large ones, that shot in all directions, sparking brightly, before fizzling down and falling down the sky. Another one was lit up- and I realized, with my (e/c) eyes wide, that it was red.
A purple one went off- then another the color of clownfish, and smaller ones were shot off simultaneously.
I realized, without a doubt, that it was coming from the ship.
Kelton's yells of warning dimmed in my ears- it was as if I was hypnotized by the beauty in front of me, the booms that the stars gave off muted in the water. I wanted to hear them- desperately, I wanted to see them spark before my own eyes and watch them clatter in my ears.
I gave my (f/c) fins a flick- and my head burst through the water and into the air of mankind.
The air pricked at the saltiness of my slick skin. The stars were much louder now, I could here how they created a zoom sound when traveling across the sky, before bursting into flares of gold.
It all came from the ship.
I frowned as I took in the appearance of this particular one. Jellal had taught me the basic vocabulary, of the hull, the bow, the stern. But this one looked more... elaborate? The wood was so polished it reflected the sparks of the stars, and, judging by the view, the sails were made of a more sturdy, expensive material.
It was also much larger, and without hesitancy I swam closer to the ship, head still above water.
I wasn't worried someone would see me. Who would pay attention to the water when there was such a spectacle in the sky going on?
With a powerful snap from my tail, I shot out of the water and managed to grab one of the metal objects that stuck out of the wooden structure. Canons, they were called, I remember as I hauled myself on top of one.
I could just peek above the deck, and my breath caught in my throat.
I had never seen so many humans in one place.
Some were dancing, moving their feet joyfully, standing on beer barrels. Others laughed and clinked their drinks together, liquid tipping over the side with the action.
The light music of a tambourin and flutes made its way to my ears, and I sighed in bliss. What a happy tune, something I wouldn't be surprised to see it was made by humans. They had a way with entertainment, harnessing it to their ability. They could make you feel sad, happy, and every emotion in between with just a few notes.
My head moved so fast from place to place I started to feel dizzy.
With shock, I realized two men were fighting in a corner of the deck.
One had navy blue eyes, and the other salmon hair that stood out immensely. Another was looking extremely bored, leaning against the rail. He was practically the definition of muscles, a scar over his eye.
I was about to let my eyes trail to the upper deck, before I heard a melodious, familiar voice that send my mind singing.
ive changed jellal leaving y/n when she was seventeen instead of fifteen, so there is more... lovey dovey stuff and shes more mature.
lol, i still think its weird, that they get married so young in disney movies. like, i keep writing y/n as if shes 23 to make it realistic XD. but bear with me, k?
Question~ Who would you like to have as a mermaid sister?
i think id want erza or cana, erza because wed have some pretty awesome adventures, while cana bcuz we'd flirt with cute merboys together 😉 😉
