Wynn

I should still be sleeping right now.

Instead, I allowed Cole to guilt trip me into showing my face at this hellhole today. Navigating the nauseating politics of high school isn't exactly how I want to spend my time, but I know he's right. We need to finish out our senior year strong. I guess I can endure lukewarm cafeteria tots and nuggets for a few more months if it means a better future for us.

At least I have first period off this semester, which allows me to get a slightly later start. I woke to Cole kissing me goodbye before helpfully reminding me that my first class would start in an hour. He doesn't have the luxury of a free period this semester, but Wyatt offered to give him a ride so I can get a little extra sleep.

Wyatt Matheson to the rescue, as usual.

An errant shoulder bounces off of mine as my peers rush through the hallways, causing me to regret having fallen prey to Cole's influential charm. How did I let his pretty face talk me into this? I sigh, wandering down the hallway as the eyes of the student body follow me, ignoring the whispers and drama that seem to be unavoidable anymore.

It's as if they think I've contracted leprosy or something. I can't help but wonder what the rumors will be like when I start to show. Word will probably spread that I'm expecting twin alien babies, or maybe Justin Beiber's lovechild. I couldn't care less though. I have everything I need now, and it's all much more than I could've imagined possible.

To heck with the haters.

I round the corner, entering the senior locker bay and finding Colby, who shrieks when she sees me approaching. Next to her, Morgan follows Colby's line of sight, waving wildly in my direction the moment she spots me. I grin at my overly enthusiastic friends, not bothering to hide my amusement. I should've known I'd be greeted this way after I abandoned our girl's night, but at that point reconciling with Cole was the only thing on my mind.

"Wynona Lisette Caldwell," Colby begins sternly, placing her hands on her hips in menacing fashion, though the smirk on her face makes her about as intimidating as a calico kitten.

"Shh!" I giggle at her hard-ass facade, putting a finger to my lips to hush her as I quicken my pace, closing the gap between us. "Everyone's already talking about me. I don't need my atrocious middle name adding fuel to the flames!"

Colby laughs, joining Morgan as they wrap their arms around me in a genuine embrace.

"We've been trying to get ahold of you since you left the other night!" Morgan chatters, releasing me. "I know you said things are all good, but other than that, we know nothing! Do you have any idea how that feels?" She pouts, her brow furrowed in mock agony.

"I can imagine," I lilt, working to contain my excitement. The last time I saw them, I hadn't heard from Cole in days. Now, everything seems to be falling into place.
