"You can stay here if you like, you have been living in my building's basement for the last three months." Iris pushes open her apartment door, open space layout. Only three other doors are visible. Iris pushes me over to the kitchen before pulling out a blood bag, "Sorry, I can't have tons of bodies showing up around the city. Hunters have slowed down these last three months while you were inhuman. I can help you get up and going in a normal life here, or if you want, you can return to your family." She passes me the blood bag before grabbing another for herself. We sat there silently drinking our blood, do I even want to go home? I can't be around my family without thinking about Arabella and I need time to live my life without her. She got the chance to live without me, but this time there is no chance at reunion. I know she is gone, but her death is still fresh in my heart. I haven't talked to Peter since Arabella's death, he took it quite hard too. Losing his last living blood relative can be heart retching. Klaus is currently dealing with a pregnant wolf, with Elijah following suit. Rebekah has been sending her time trying to find me, I still need to tell them I'm alive and well. "I need to stay here, start my life over as a human being. I can't be myself without thinking of Arabella, so I need to start fresh. I'll pretend to be a graduated human from NYU, I can compel myself a degree in anything I want." Iris places her blood bag down on the table. She opens a draw next to her thighs and pulls out a notebook and pen. "If you are going to live here, we are going to need rules." She flips the book open to a clean page, clicking her pen three times before writing on top "Rules for 'Human' Living". She begins writing furiously, I lean back and let her do thing. After a minute or two she holds up the notebook for me to see.
Rules for 'Human' Living'
1. No killing humans unless nessicary
2. Compelling can be used once a month (Unless Needed otherwise)
3. Work your job like a human
4. Pay your part of the bills
5. Tell each other if other people are coming over
6. Any major decision made together
7. Blood will be hidden in public (too many people to have secret exposed)
8. Respect each other's privacy
9. If help is needed, ask for it
10. Warn each other of danger
"That seems human-like, not perfect but will do for now." I claim, finishing the blood bag, throwing the empty bag on the table. Iris looks at it and back at me, grabbing the pen adding to the rule list.
11. Be responsible for your own stuff (Including TRASH)
"Really? I don't know where anything is in this place. How am I supposed to throw this away?" Iris grabs the bag and opens a cupboard under the sink, point to the garbage can. " I'll give you the proper tour of every little thing later. This room is the kitchen/ Living room/ dining room. This is free space, please do not have sex in here." Arabella's face flashes in my mind, she is gone Kol, start moving on. This is what she would want. "No promises darling." She jokingly glares at me, scrunching up her nose at the thought. "The bathroom in the only door on the left side of the house. I don't like the layout but I can't afford a bigger place yet. On the other side is our rooms, your room is on the left and mine is on the right. I gave you a bed, dresser, night stand, lamp, and compelled you a phone and plan for the next 4 months. We can go together, once you are stable with money, and switch accounts over to your own credit card. I also compelled you a completely new I.D. , you got everything from social to birth certificate. I had you born here but moved to London when you were 2. I have school records and pictures, and tons of other stuff all in a giant bin. Also there is your luggage that you had at your hotel. I took all the credit cards out of your wallet and broken them, all that is left is the cash and gift cards. You have free range of what happens now, also there is a detailed page on bills." I turned to face her, a bit confused on how she did all of this before she knew I was staying. "Why did you do all of this if you didn't know I was staying?" She flips her hair off her shoulder before glancing at the wall. "If I were you, I would stay too. Also, rule 12. Stay out of each other's room unless told otherwise. Go get set up with your new life." She speeds into her room, leaving me alone.
My room is light blue walls with wooden floors, my bed against the back wall with a bin on top. My night stand is placed next to my bed, while my dresser is placed inside of my closet. All black furniture and dark blue bedding, there is also a white lamp on top of my dresser. The bin is just clear plastic meter long container, with foot high stacks. Iris really was detailed in creating a fake life for me, I have to admit, I'm impressed. Walking over to my new bed, sitting down besides the bin. I need to learn to live without Arabella, I think I'm ready.
