The Summer Festival
Two words; bathing suits.
I've never felt comfortable wearing them, so excuse me and my insecurities if I didnt like walking around with it on.
According to Emily, everyone was going to wear one. I didnt really want to wear it, but because of how stubborn Emily was, I was forced to wear it. I wanted to go for a plain colour like black, so that I wouldnt stand out but I wore a bright red instead, because of Emily's professional fashion advice. She said it matched my hair.
I regret listening to her advice so much now.
So here I was, sitting at the backseat of the car with my shorts and loose white top on. Because of the striking red colour of my bathing suit, it was quite obvious under my white top. Jason was the driver for today. The ride was enjoyable even though Jason and his jokes were lame.
"Jason, you really have to work on your jokes" said Emily annoyed.
"I know! I'm trying!" he protested.
"Well its not working" I stated "Its bad enough that you cant flirt"
"None of the girls will get attracted to you" said Emily.
"I am completely offended by your statements" laughed Jason sarcastically.
After half an hour, we arrived at a beach which was pretty much like a funfair, just like what Emily said.
There was a huge sign that read 'Summer Festival' by the beach, with balloons tied to it. Music was being played, at a nearby speaker. The beach was full of people and booths, and stands. The place seemed more like a party than a festival.
Most girls were walking around in their bathing suits. They wore branded and expensive bathing suits which included Victoria Secret while all the guys were topless, playing volleyball, surfing or flirting with girls.
Not to mention, this place was a food paradise! Hotdogs, icecream, candyfloss, popcorn, pancakes and so much more to choose from. Coming here was a great desicion.
"Woohoo!" shouted Jason as he took his shirt off "Ready ladies?"
"I guess" I said.
"C'mon Lauren!" exclaimed Emily. She was wearing an emerald green bathing suit that matched her eager eyes. Her hazel hair looked amazing, as being blown against the wind "Show a little sass to that"
"Um, I think I'll just sit down and you know-" I stammered.
"Dude, we came here to have fun!" she reasoned as she crossed her arms.
"The sea looks great! Lets go, whats with the hold?" questioned Jason as he put his arms around Emily's and my shoulder.
"I'm just a little hungry, I'll join you guys later" I said, hoping they would accept the excuse.
"Really?" she asked, not seeming to buy the excuse.
"But we just ate before we came here" complained Jason.
"I'll join you two later, just-just let me eat, the food smells great!" I said trying to sound enthusiastic.
Jason and Emily crossed their arms and raised an eyebrow.
"Hm okay, but I'm not leaving until you take that shirt off" she laughed.
"Seriously?" I groaned in disbelief. Emily raised her eyebrow. "Fine"
I hesitatedly took off my white shirt, exposing my red bathing suit. To be honest, I was glad I took it off. It was way too hot to be wearing shirts.
"Thats better! I'll be back and you have to come and join the fun" she insisted as Emily pulled down her round sunglasses from her hair to her eyes.
"Okay" I replied as Emily and Jason left.
I walked around the beach, letting my feet sink into the hot sand. There were booths and lots of food stands. Everything here smelt so good, that I wasnt sure what to eat.
But in the end, I went to the pancakes stand. I sat at the stools and took my order. I scanned the menu and made my choice.
"Coming right up!" said the waitress.
I was served a plate of pancakes which had maple syrup and whipped cream on top, with some small blueberries and strawberries. Mouth watering? Believe me, it tasted like heaven. The orange juice was refreshing too. It was freshly made.
I observed the beach and spotted Jason with a bunch of girls who were laughing. Maybe Jason really did improve on his jokes.
I laughed at the thought. Emily on the other hand was swimming in the sea and seemed to have made new friends.
After eating, I scrolled through my instagram on my phone. Emily and Jason were having so much fun that they seemed to have forgotton about me.
Suddenly, my phone vibrated. It was a text.
From: unknown
Hey :)
Well this was strange. No one else texts me except for Emily, Jason and my partner, Hailey, from chemistry class.
Who's number was this? As far as I remembered, I havent given my number to anyone lately.
I decided to reply: Hey? Who's this?
There was an instant reply:
I didnt think you would respond ;)
What? Okay this was weird.
I replied: Okay, so who are you?
This person replied fast:
You look great in red, it suits you ;)
This was getting scary. I scanned the beach to check if anyone was looking. The person texting me had to be here. I spotted Emily laughing with a phone, which belonged to someone else. Maybe she was behind all this.
I replied: um, thanks? Can you like just tell me who you are?
Person: I'm a human ;)
Ha-ha funny I thought sarcastically.
Me: Nice try Emily, but its not funny.
Person: I thought you already had her number ?
I was really confused. I walked back to the beach and slid my phone into my bag. Suddenly, as I turned around, someone grabbed my hand and dragged me to the water. It was Emily.
"Gosh its so cold in here!" I squealed.
"It feels great, doesnt it" smiled Emily victoriously as she put her hands on her hips.
"Okay, yes it does smartypants. You win" I laughed as I splashed her.
In a split second, we were having a water fight. My body as completely wet but luckily my hair was still dry.
"Canon ball!" shouted Jason suddenly, as he spalshed in between us.
He made our hair dripping wet, but it felt good since the sun was drying us up, slowly.
Jason laughed "You two look like wet dogs. Especially you, Lauren!"
"Hey!" I shouted. My hair was a sensitive subject for me.
Emily splashed a gush of water onto Jason's hair "Whos hair is wet now?"
We were so busy laughing and having fun, that I toppled backwards and bumped into someone.
Yep, being the clumsy old Lauren.
I turned around and, you arent going to like who I bumped into.
Real smooth Lauren, real smooth.
I'm so dead!
A/N: Yes, cliffhanger for you guys :) Yeah, gather your tomatoes, potatoes, cauliflowers and rotton cheese or whatever! Muahahah, I feel so evil.
How you guys enjoying it?
Lin xx :)
