Chapter 4 ~ 'Old Man'
I left Belli's room a half an hour ago and I still haven't found anything to do. Well you are in a hospital dipshit. 'Thanks for pointing out the obvious brain but there's got to be some other people in here I can talk to at..three in the morning'. Yeesh. People are still sometimes up, I mean, it's a fricken hospital. Not the best and most comfortable place to sleep. Sigh. I might as well make my way back to my room and get some "rest".
I continued to talk to myself as I walked aimlessly through the maze of halls until, finally finding the one where my room was supposed to be.
Three doors down, another person's room door had been left slightly ajar. Light flooded from the crack and illuminating the hall with a white line. Now I know what you're thinking. Lights off in a hospital? No way. Yes way. Its one of those weird ones where they make you try to feel at home so you'll recover faster. Something like relaxation, no place like home, therapy.
'Hm I wonder who's in there.' ..Y'know, curiosity killed the cat right? 'Cats have nine lives right? I think i'll be fine.'
I peeked through the crack, slightly pushing the door open. I would guess maybe an older guy, in his twenties, was sitting with casts wrapped around most of his body. He looked like a mummy. But not a decomposing rotting flesh sort of mummy. I giggled to myself.
You crack yourself up way to much. 'Shush, let me enjoy my hilarity!'
He was watching the tv in the top corner of the room. It's not like he can do anything else. Do you see all those casts? Damn. 'No, it's not like I don't have any eyes or anything' I retorted to myself.
The door squeaked louder than I anticipated and the man looked towards me, catching me in an awkwardly frozen position. Shit, wasn't paying attention. I need to work on my sneaking skills or something.
"Are you a nurse?"
Shit. Do I say yes or lie my ass off. "I might be" Okay I guess that response works. Some mystery. Hah.
"Well now that I look at you, you look nothing like a nurse. Or even a doctor for that matter. How old are you, sixteen?"
Wow one year off. Think this guy could be psychic? 'No brain, I don't. Im pretty sure anyone can look at me and think that. I'm a teenager genius.' Now how to go about this..play it off cool like 'oooo the old man is so close' or maybe like a shy boy and stutter. Nah lets try not to be a dick today.
I chuckled as I snapped my fingers. "Ah so close! Im seventeen." We'll be a little saucy and add the most awkward hair flip and wink I have.
He kind of gave me this sort of quirky questionable look but whatevs. "So what's a kid like you doing in a hospital snooping around people's rooms eh? Isn't it passed your bed time?" Oh it's on!
"Well, I was heading back to my room but curiosity got the best of me. Whats an old man like you doing up at this hour anyway. Atleast I have the excuse of being young and having energy." I said as I plopped down on the visitors chair beside the bed.
