Alissa

Buzz. Buzz. Buzz. My eyes open a little bit. I'm hearing something. What is that noise? I look over to my phone and see it vibrating around in a circle, the screen lit up, as a text appears.

Kayden: Hey Liss! I'm glad you agreed to come to the party with me tonight. It'll be fun, trust me.

I decide not to text him back. Another text pops up, this one as a response from Meg to a previous group message between Kat, Meg and I.

Kat: Come on, Liss! Please come to the party with us! Even for an hour!

Meg: PLEASE Liss! It'll be fun.

Me: I've heard that before. Sorry girls, I'm hanging out with someone else.

Meg: Really?! Who?

Me: The couch, a movie, and a tub of Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough Ice Cream

Kat: You're no fun

Me: Give it up! Please! I don't want to go. Parties aren't my scene.

I'm not lying when I say that I'll be watching a movie and eating ice cream. That's what I'll do afterwards. I'll go with Kayden for an hour or so and then see if he'll take me back to his house so I can binge watch Jane the Virgin. God, I just want to get the party over with. Butterflies are swimming in my stomach, making my nerves go insane.

Kayden

"Hey Mom!" I yell as I walk upstairs from the basement. My mom peaks around the corner from within the kitchen.

"What's up Kayden?"

"I'm moving the party to another place."

"Oh, no. You don't have to."

"I want to. This way I don't have to really worry about people breaking or spilling anything. And it's so nice outside at night."

"Where are you moving it to?"

"One of the guys lives in like the middle of nowhere and has an empty field that expands for miles, and he said that we can use it for the party. Also, that way, the music won't bother anyone."

"Ok, Kayden. That's fine."

I give her a kiss on the cheek as I walk back towards the basement. Once in my room, I pull my phone out of my pocket, checking to see if Lissa ever texted me back. Seeing no response, I throw my phone down on my bed and head into my bathroom to take a shower, so I can be ready for when Alissa gets here. She should be arriving in a while and then once she's settled we'll be heading to Landon's to set up for the party.

Lissa arrives twenty minutes later and I help her get settled in the other room in the basement. I gave her an option of where she would prefer staying, upstairs in the guest bedroom or the extra small room I turned into another small bedroom when I redid the basement.

"Liss," I state and she looks up at me from where she sits on the bed. "Do you want to come with me to take some stuff over to the field for the party?"

"Is there enough time before the party starts that you could come back here?"

"There is."

"Ok. Then I'll just stay here for a while. I might take a cat nap."

"Alright, I'll see you in a while then." I give her a small smile and then leave.
