Emil sat at the bar counter, sipping the liquid out of his glass and listening as (F/N) downed yet another drink of alcohol. She'd never been one to drink before, but tonight she was really going at it. As much as he wanted to stop her from doing something stupid, he was mostly trying to ignore what was happening. It was getting late into the night, and Emil wanted to go home and sleep. Normally, he would've just left early, but (F/N) was making him stay; someone had to keep her from doing something stupid while she was drunk, and someone irresponsible like Mathias wasn't going to do it. He also had a soft spot for (F/N), and couldn't really bare the thought of her being taken advantage of while intoxicated.
"Iceeeee!" He jumped as he heard her call out to him, normally they didn't call each other by their country names when out in public, but she was probably to drunk to bother correcting herself. The drunk girl hopped off her bar stool and stumbled over to the young nation, who was slightly nervous to what she might try and do.
"W-What do you want, (F/N)?" He asked apprehensively, watching the girl climb onto a chair closer to him. Lukas was watching the two of them with a hidden smile, already knowing about the small crush his younger brother had on (F/N).
"Den was being an asshole, so—" she hiccuped abruptly, "—so I came to hang around with you and Nor." She leant her head on the bar counter, waving at the bartender to come over to her, but Emil quickly interrupted her from doing so.
"(F/N), I think you've drank enough for tonight," he interjected, sending the bartender a look that told him not to serve (F/N) another drink. The (H/C) haired girl whined loudly, making a few people turn their heads.
"No! I'm fine, I'm not drunk!" She protested, but her slurred speech contradicted her sentence. It took a while of convincing, but eventually, she quietened down, and people stopped staring. "Hey Ice?" She said, still using Emil's country name.
"Yes, (F/N)?" He replied, patiently, and he almost felt like he was talking to a child he had to look after, but it wasn't a child, it was (F/N), the girl he liked.
"What's the meaning of life?" She spouted out, and Emil looked at her with a confused expression.
"What?"
"Why are we here?" She turned her head around to look at him, leaning heavily on the counter. "Why do I exist? And why do you exist?" Emil didn't know that alcohol made (F/N) ask philosophical questions, but now was a great time to learn, he guessed. He knew she probably wouldn't register his words properly, but he answered her anyway.
"We represent our people as a nation," he replied, and (F/N) looked at him with wonder, then sadness.
"But, what if one day we just stop existing?" She didn't give him anytime to answer before she went onto the next question. "What if one day, someone just nukes (C/N) and I disappear? POOF!" She made wild actions with her hands and turned back to Emil. He was slightly caught off guard when he saw tears in her eyes. "And then I-I wouldn't be able to see y-you and—" She burst into tears, and Emil didn't know what the hell he should've done.
Should he tell her she's being silly, be flustered at the fact she was sad about not seeing him, or get annoyed at his brother next to him for laughing? He decided to enact the first option, as comforting wasn't his strong suit, and most of the time he just blushed red and said some off-handed comment.
"D-Don't be silly!" He stuttered. "That won't happen." Though he was calling her silly, his voice was still reassuring enough for her to stop sobbing and for her cries to die down to sniffles. So, (F/N) cried when she was drunk—the more you know. Emil felt a tap on his shoulder and turned to Lukas sat on the chair next to him.
