A/N. I think that you all might just have to put up with my slow updating speed :( Sorry!

Disclaimer: Look at my writing, then look at the writing in both the Harry Potter and Percy Jackson series. If you think that I own them, then you clearly fell for the Santa Claus trick, didn't you?

Chapter 8

11:30pm

Tic, toc. Tic, toc. Tic...

Apart from the ticking of the clock, it was dead silent in the dormitory of the first year Slytherin boys. Aside from Scorpius, all its inhabitants possessed the deep and slow breathing of a sleeping person. Finally, it was a quarter to twelve, and it was time for Scorpius to get up.

He emerged from the covers fully clothed, having changed as soon as the lights went out. He wore a brown leather jacket - the kind the Romans made specifically for quests - and matching boots, as well as a plain black shirt and pants. The jacket looked good, as well as doubling as a weak form of armour, and the boots were perfect for stealth, making not a sound as he stole from the room, headed for the Forbidden Forest.

However, he didn't realise that, from their lookout in the Astronomy Tower, James and Harry Potter had a brilliant view of both the stars and the Forbidden Forest.

"Turn that one thirty degrees," Harry instructed, speaking in relation to one of the many infuriating dials and knobs on the telescope.

James nodded, frowning in concentration. "Like this?"

Harry smiled. "Yes! I think you're getting it!"

James grinned, going to look through the telescope. Just as he got a glimpse through the annoying seeing contraption, something went wrong and the entire thing shifted, pointing toward the the Forest instead of the stars. Again.

James scowled. "What did I do wrong this time?"

Harry shook his head, perplexed. "I don't know," he replied, leaning forward to look lens. "I don't think that there's anything wrong with the telescope; the visibility on this thing is incredible, and - huh? What the?!" Harry exclaimed. "A girl just appeared at the edge of the Forest! In a burst of bloody sunlight!"

Not a sound was made by Scorpius as he strode past the gamekeeper's hut. Not a single twig snapped underfoot and no exclamation was made by him, even when he very nearly tripped. However, that isn't to say that all was quiet.

Owls hooted and tree branches rustled. Dark shapes flitted about, guttural growls and inhuman screeches accompanying them as they went. Scorpius' eyes were wide, his knuckles a tad too pale. The wind hissed and howled continually, numbing his face and ears.

Without warning, a ball of sunlight five metres wide appeared not too far from the tree line, a glowing container for a young girl. She smiled as the light faded, and Scorpius had no difficulty in seeing it. Her blonde hair shone like the sun, her eyes a bright shade of honey-brown.

"Hey, Scor," she whispered as she whirled to face him, hand resting lightly on a small dagger that hung on her belt. She wore standard Camp Half-Blood attire, along with a bow and a quiver of arrows that rested on her back. "You're prompt."

Deciding not to mention that this came from years of drills, thanks to his Roman father, Scorpius replied, "Well, I didn't want to be late."

She nodded, shivering, seeming to suddenly notice the lack of light and heat. She cursed. "I hate the dark!"

Scorpius nodded. It was common for children of Apollo to be fearful of the dark, and for some, it was a fully-fledged phobia. "Let's go further until the Forest. That way, you can make some light without fear of being seen."
