My first story !! :D

Hope you enjoy, I'd love comments. I'll post daily if you'd like. Enjoy my darlings.

Everyone at Delton, every face and every voice you have known since you were 4 years old. A small quiet town, famous for the most quaint and wholesome county fair and pageants. If you played little league in grade school, then you are probably on the famous Delton High varsity football team. If you and your friends was in every single Little Miss Delton County Pageant since birth, then you are more than likely the most popular girls in school- if you won all the pageants then you are defiantly the most popular girl in school. What a life of simplicity for you. But, what about the rest of Delton High? The kids without names. The ones you pass in the halls and can't remember who they are yet they have been to every single one of your games and family functions that your parents have thrown for the community. What about the outcasts? The black sheep, the loners: what about us? This is our coming out. Letting the world outside of precious little Delton know we are here and we are ready. And even, letting ourselves know that it's okay to be ourselves. Its okay to be different.. Its okay to like football and Glee or cheer leading and other cheerleaders. You can open up that oppressive, unidentified and insufferable closet and come out and let the world see you for who you are. Whether they are ready or not.

"What the hell is this?"

Adrian slammed the paper on my desk, knocking over my new "Senior Editor" name plate. I flipped it back over, smoothing everything out on my mahogony desk before I casually looked up with a meek smile at her and her two pack mules/ friends.

"What was that?"

"Is this like your idea of a senior prank or something? You think I'm going to let you mock the entire school by publishing this crap" She yelled pointing at my paper like it was some deformed creature.

"I mean... you are the publisher...you publish." I said waving my hands around.

Adrain tossed her unnaturally blonde "but don't tell her that" hair over her shoulder and leaned over my desk, narrowing her soul stealing and hell casting green eyes at me.

"Listen Gia. You think because you're a senior you have authority here, well sadly your mistaken. I run this entire operation and I say what gets published and what gets tossed in the trash. This disgusting little ballad of impurity can join the rest of your liberal homo erotic articles in the garbage. Am I absolutely clear?"

"Yes, Adrian. So just to be clear, If i was to write a well descriptive piece on how soft the butts on every boy in One Direction was, that would just tickle your ovaries wouldn't it?" I said back, leaning back in my seat.

Adrain smirked and stood up, crossing her arms. "Better than admitting to the school your a total dyke."

"Uh, Adrian," one of her drones pipped in. "You can't really say that word. It's considered a hate crime. We could get removed from the uh...from the committee."

Adrian ignored her and I raised an eyebrow, agreeing.

"Well you got me, Adrian. What are you going to do? Tell the whole school? Why else did I write this?"

"Coming out of your little sad pathetic closet of yours will only destroy you Gia." She spat.

"Adrian, you sound done. Are you done? I think your done here. You can leave my door open on your way out, I'd like the view anyway."

Adrian's nostrils flared and she gritted her teeth.

"You'll regret this. You think this school- this town, will be okay with this? You got another thing coming, Rosie O'Donald."

"She's not even a-"

Adrian whipped around and stormed out of my tiny office, which was once a supply closet but due to a little something called seniority, it's my own person throne.

Her lackys quickly followed behind her like little ducklings.

When I was alone, I exhaled and started painting. I can't believe I just did that. The first person I come out to and it's the bitchy junior publisher of the school magazine.

I covered my face with my hands, trying not to freak out.

"I cant believe that happened."

"What happened?" I peaked through my fingers and say Payton standing in my doorway, dressed in gym clothes. "Judging by my sister's red faced rant she's having in the corner, someone must have mentioned something about a little article she's been plotting on."

"How do you manage to live with such a cunt?"

"Let's see," Payton tapped his chin. "Younger sister dating the hottest guys in Delton and brings them over to swim in our pool who also tries to win the older brother's approval with a little guy bonding aka tackle football in the yard, occasionally shirtless...however do I survive?"

I stood up and walked over to Payton who held me in a tight embrace.

"You smell like armpits in a sandwich tossed into the sun."

"Oh fake girlfriend, you know how to woo a guy. And you are coming to my game? Figured we could end our very heterosexual relationship in style for the yearbook. I want cutest couple."

I looked up at him. "As long as you are okay with me totally cheating on you with Nova before the game."

"Oh you little whore, you have my blessing." He stroked my head.

"Payton, she's not publishing my paper."

"Please, leave that all to me. You think I'm going to let you have all the glory of walking us out of the closet?"

I smirked and he let me go and walked over to my desk and picked up the paper.

"Leave this to mama."

"Payton I could kiss you right now."

"Ew, I'm actually trying to keep my lunch down for the game, I think that hug was enough. Besides, if we win, a celebratory kiss will be expected from the fans and I'd like to work up the old gag reflexes."

"As if they aren't crafted to perfection. Anyway, I gotta get going." I said looking at my watch. I grabbed my messenger bag and pushed Payton out of the office.

"What's the hurry bitch?" He laughed as I stammered around with the keys to lock the door.

"Let's just say I got some very very important news to deliver." I smiled.

Payton rolled up the paper and tucked it in his gym shorts.

"Take it in, Gia. Today is the last day of living a regular straighter than the lines in geometry class lives. There's no going back."

I stood there, holding on to the door knob, understanding there was no need to think about going back. After today, I can finally be me. And instead of awkwardly holding my gay best friend's hand down the hall, I can hold my beautiful Nova's hand for the first time.
