MARIA'S HOUSE
Maria accompanied by Luz just got home from the church, they attended the 6PM Mass
As she enters the house "Mama" she greeted and kisses a lady in her 40's that resembles her brunette hair and small petite body. then turn to the people with her mother and smile "Good evening po" she greeted her mother's visitors.
"Yolanda, tell the driver that he will be sending my amiga's after 10 minutes" the woman told to one of their helper
"Yes Madam" she answered with a little bow before going away to do her task
"Maria my daughter" her mom called her "please give your father a call, it's getting late already tell him to be home not later than 10 before he forgets" her mother said with a soft smile
"Yes Mama" she answer then went her way upstairs
ANCESTRAL HOUSE
"Anne, is there a landline here I need to call a hospital? Lei has my phone and I think he went out" Ge-an asked with a small smile
Anne turn to her and answer with a friendly smile "Yes, there's a landline upstairs in the –" but before she can finished Ge-an cuts her off "Ah yes" she said as she realized something while scratching her nape "I forgot that I saw it already yesterday. thanks I'll go ahead" she smiled and hurriedly went back up
An old clock strikes 8:00PM makimg the old clock chime as a thunder can be heard and lightning seen outside the window. Ge-an went to her room and look around when she saw what she is looking she smile and approaches the old phone placed in a small table near her bed
MARIA'S HOUSE
Same scenario with Maria a thunder can be heard outside her room when clock strikes 8 o'clock in the evening as she went to their telephone to call her father, as she picks it up, and put it over her ear she hears something
"Hello" she said as she heard a clicking sound in the other line "Hello" she asked again more louder
"Hello are you a cross line?" she heard a soothing voice from the other line
(Crossline - it means the available open lines are very limited that leads to sharing of lines)
"Huh? I don't know what that is" Maria answers in confusing tone
"Or are you a party line? But I think it's not in trend this time anymore" the person in the other line speaks indifferently for marics but she doesn't found it weird but interesting instead
(Party line is a local loop telephone circuit that is shared by multiple telephone service subscribers)
"I do not know, I just hear your voice even you're not talking to anyone" Maria said
"Well this place is still old school; someone answers even if I was not able to connect, anyway I was trying to call a hospital" Ge-an said amused
"Hospital? What Hospital?" Maria asked but the line went blank
"Hello" she got no response "Hello" she waited for 3 seconds and hesitantly put down the phone down.
