"Come on Nevaeh, you're scaring the poor girl. We aren't doing anything I promise. What she meant was we need you to promise not to use anything against us, like secrets or anything. We had one guy who promised he was our friend then went off trying to get Nevaeh to lose her job when she actually started transitioning, turns out he was transphobic." Zeki explained looking at Nevaeh, who understandably looked tense and crossed.
"I would absolutely never do that, especially after everything you have done for me."
They all nod their approval before leaning back into the couches while J gets a wooden chair and flips it around and brings it to the group. He definitely seems like the most laid back of the group. Like he is the happiest, he has a smile that almost has no pain behind it. That's when I realized he most likely has the most going on right now. I know from experience that the biggest smile means the most baggage....
.... That day started the upward spiral in my life; I started hanging out and getting out a lot more and I've noticed my smile has become more real. I finally have a family I'm not afraid to talk to about anything. It's a nice change in pace from the constant dread I felt with my biological family.
Today in luckily Saturday, which means I don't have school and a plus is that today I don't have work. This is a real blessing from above. As much as I love my job I am so excited to go out and possibly go shopping like I planned. Sadly Nevaeh got called into work for an emergency, and she was supposed to go with me. She honestly didn't seem too excited but I'm writing that off with she has been stressed recently about J, she won't tell me what's wrong just that they are being stupid.
I pull my hair into a tight ponytail on the top of my hair, then I wrap it around the tie and make a messy bun. I grab my pastel blue plain tee-shirt and overalls, finally, I decide on my white vans. My makeup was a purely a winged eyeliner and a little mascara. When I look in my full-length mirror in my room I nod at my look today. I like to change my style as much as possible. I grab my light pink cross-body purse and my bus pass.
The bus station always scares me, what if I get off at the wrong stop and get lost? Today though, as I board the bus, I'm too happy and excited to have a free day to really worry. I take a seat and to my luck, it's a complete open row. I stare out the window taking in the scenery of the city. Some people, especially from a country area, would say seeing buildings after is terrible and not actual scenery but I have to disagree. It's nice to see how different people decorate the outside of each house, even if the actual house is the same and quite repetitive. The creativity that is available is what I love, you can create such different pieces of work from the same canvas.
