An agonized scream pierced through the once quiet dawn.

On the dirt covered floor, twitching and trashing about in pain was Leah Clearwater.

Back arched, mouth open in a silent scream. Her body convulsed in ways Leah never knew were possible. A cringe worthy snap came from her spine, the pain was too great. She gasped, desperate for air. Leah swore she could feel her bones breaking and reforming themselves.

Raging fires lit up her insides. Nothing compared to the pain she was in that moment. The pain she was experiencing now was made what she was feeling these past few days seem like a slap on the wrist.

What was happening?

Leah was confused and terribly afraid.

It was all occurring far too fast. The excruciating pain was too difficult to ignore and attempt to piece the pieces together.

One minute Leah had been fine, leaning against a tree trunk, taking in the noises of the waves below her. Then, out of nowhere the impact of being rammed by a ten ton truck hit her unexpectedly.

Spit and what Leah could only guess was vomit built at the end of her esophagus. Attempting to roll onto her side, as to not choke and die was a fail.

Quick flying thoughts raced in her head.

What if this was fate?

To die of choking on her own saliva and vomit after losing the most valuable gems life had given her?

Was this her destiny?

Should she fight?

Or should she give in and let whatever happens happen?

Did Leah Clearwater even want to live anymore?

Tanned, muscular arms made the decision for her. They turned lead on her side. Assisting her in successfully throwing up and making breathing easier.

Leah coughed and coughed for what seemed like hours. She had no idea who had helped her. Tears blurred her vision and her head hurt to much to lift. All she could make out was a dark silhouette. She guessed it was a man, given by how large and rough the hands felt.

Sam?

Just the thought of his name brought anger.

A vicious growl rumbled deep within her chest.

The pain intensified.

She wanted to lash out against Sam.

Get the hell away from me!

Her eyes closed and behind her closed lids a sudden flash appeared.

Time slowed.

Then, an explosion.

The next thing Leah Clearwater knew was the her mind went blank for a split second. A new voice commanded her body. The voice yelled three things only.

Hunt! Attack! Kill!

Leah lunged, heading straight towards the shadowed figure. The figure which had let out a loud gasp (followed by a low holy shit) then had took of running in the direction of the cliff's edge.

Half a second passed before Leah ran after what she believed was Sam Uley.

Dangerous growls were accompanied by the awful sound of pointed teeth clashing and grinding against one another echoed around Leah. She caught up to Sam in no time, her speed was impeccable! Her jaws opened, ready to bite into Sam's ankle. Images of blood and flesh popped up.

Suddenly, Sam was no longer standing on the cliff's side. He dove as gracefully as a ballet dancer into the raging sea. Heels digging into the ground, Leah was soon surrounded by dust and tiny rocks flying around her as she halted. Peering over the edge, she stared down into the dark waves.

Beady eyes searched for Sam Uley to rise to the surface.

But he never did.
